DH is forever moaning at me because he has put on weight (don't know why its my fault but hey!!)
So I told him he should start a diet if he wants to lose weight - I mentioned Weight Watchers but he just looked at me as if I had horns growing out my head ("thats for women" was his response!)
Was just wondering if any of your partners/hubbies had been on any kind of "Manly" type diets?
He hasn't got a lot of excess weight but has certainly filled out in the past year or 2. He is just noticing it because he used to be very skinny!!
Anyway any hints or tips would be appreciated to save my aching ears!!

Hmmm, he could try to eat more veg etc and pasta and rice instead of potatoes. I know what you mean though. Andy has got a wee bit of lovehandles appearing and he's shocked as he is very fit because of his job. Think it's mainly down to age though.

My dp gained a bit of excess weight during the world cup, so he's cut out having a larger or two in the evenings and now only has a couple at the weekend.
I've started trimming his portion sizes, not enough for him to starve, but enough for him to feel as if he cutting down, and i've also started adding salad which he used to just reply 'urgh im not eating that', but since his slight gain he actually started asking for it
sorry not much good, but this is as far as dp will take 'dieting' lolol

The "Abs Diet" is a male diet plan and healthy eating book. Some of the lads at work were talking about it the other day as they all play pc games and drink beer in the evenings. From what they were saying it just tells you what foods to avoid and what foods are good as different foods act differently on the male body. Men need high protien. They were saying it's not a faddy type book like the Atkins diet that you have to change your whole eating pattern but very sensible. I haven't seen it myself but might be worth a look at. hth

lolol Brett put on quite a bit of weight around the time the boys were born (I can't think why!). He doesn't 'do' diets, but he is into healthy eating. He asked me to reduce his portion sizes, which I did. We don't fry any foods, and our diet is varied. As you know I'm on the NoCount Weight Watchers diet so unless he and the boys don't want to starve they will be doing it with me!! Seriously, though I believe in reducing the amount you eat and getting plenty of exercise as it really does make a difference.
Brett's a keen surfer. This has helped tone up his upper body and give him musculy thighs (phwoar, I'm sooo counting down the days til he's here). I know this is unrealistic for Duncan, but Dunc could do some exercise even if it's just walking/running. A friend and I do a hill walk first thing every saturday morning. If I can get away with walking and not driving I will leave the car at home. If Dunc doesn't do gyms what about investing in some weights and/or a home gym?

Tony is having a good old winge about this too. His is mainly down to a couple of cans in the evening which he keeps saying he'll stop but hasnt shown signs of doing yet. I'll take him seriously when he does himself.
However I have cut his portions down and tried to cook more healthily - although I've always made an effort anyway. And he is going to get out jogging or on his bike a couple of evenings a week.
He has also told me that if he can get fit it'll give him the insentive to quit the fags so I'm all for this!
