Hey

For the past week, my toungue has been acting really strange... It's been really sore, very red and on the sides there is like a yellow/white.. ummm, how to put it... looks like plaque but isn't, if that makes sence. There are also lumps on the side of it which are sore also.

Around the same time i noticed it, i have been feeling sick all day, light headed and very dizzy.. i nearly passed out the other day. Plus i keep getting a painful right ear, but that comes and goes.

I have been going through different things to see if its the cause of it, cut down on coke cause i drink way to much of it.. at first i thought that was the problem, but my tongue is still red and sore, i have done a pg test for the sickness, that was a negative.

Im not sleeping to well, i keep thinking to myself it's mouth cancer, and that frightens the living daylights out of me. I have looked up a couple of pics on the net and it looks like summin called Lichen planus.. (i hate the net at times, makes u worry when u find stuff like this)

Im hoping to get a doc's appt for today... got a couple more hours till i can ring them tho.

I'm not totally sure but it does sound like oral thrush. But don't quote me on that! Pop to your doctors especially if it's sore. Take care xx

Hiya Nik, I'm pretty sure you've got nothin to worry about, it does sound like thrush or just a simple infection which can be quickly cleared up by your Gp so try not to worry hunni!

Keep us informed anyways Amanda x-x-x

Hey

Went to see the doc about my poorly tongue and IBS... after waiting for 1 hour 10 mins, i got to see her, lol

First off, I am being sent to see a consultant about my IBS cause the doc thinks it isn't IBS, but something else.. as no treatment is working for me... oh joy!!! Got a blood test booked in on the 14th with the nurse, who is going to give me help to quit smoking at the same time.

Anyhows, she said it looks like oral thrush... and have some really foul tasting lozenges to suck on..

How do u get oral thrush????? Im confuzzed as to how i got it.

Found this hun

In children and adults, exposure to factors that encourage the growth of candida may lead to thrush.

These may include anything that reduces natural resistance such as general illness, viral infections, antibiotics (which kill off the protective bacteria in the mouth) and other medications including steroids (often used in asthma treatments).

Not sure if that is of any help

xxxxxx

Everybody has thrush, just takes something to trigger it off.  This is going to sound very suck egg time, and I do apologise before hand.  Its the explanation my mum gave me years ago...

We've all got good bugs and bad bugs and most of the time one cancels out the other and they get on fine.  All it takes is us to feel run down, stressed etc and the good bugs are busy everywhere else trying to keep everywhere all hunky dory.  Which means the bad bugs get to have a party...to a point where the good bugs can't keep them under control...hence why we get a flair up of thrush, not only in girlie bits but in the mouth as well.

General cause for a flair up is antibiotics as they kill all bugs, yet the bad bugs get a head start on the good bugs before an equillibrium is reached.

I know that sounds really simple, but I was only 14 at the time when she told me that, so its kind of stuck in my head...hence the apology.
