I have been getting a little confused lately with working out when we are meant to ovulate. Some "experts" say so many days after the first day of your last period, others say so many days after the end of your last period and still others say so many days before the beginning of your period. Now in theory all those different ways of working out the number of days should give roughly the same date but they don't!

Well if I remember right on a 28 day cycle, day one being last date of your last period, day 28 being the first day of your next period, then Im quite sure ovualtion day is day 16 lol Ive drawn a big time graph here trying to work it out lol I will try to find the time graph I used when I was studying but Im pretty sure ovulation occurs around day 16 your most fertile day is around day 22, or any inbetween!
A lot of women actually feel the ovualtion process, it is like a dull ache one side, occassionally both.

Most women ovulate 14 days before their next period - women have cycles of different lengths to each other and irregular cycles but the time from ovulation to next period is usually always the same, it's the time before ovulation that varies.
If you have regular periods, this should be easier to work out, if they're like mine (all over the place), not so easy..
I've told you before! look out for the stretchy stringey egg white stuff lol

Oh look, Greedy's back then!
According to the useful information that Always write on their sanitary towel packets, its 14 days before the 1st day of your period so on a 26 day cycle, Day 12!

I always thought it was 14 days after the first day of your last period, but I could be wrong. Although they I have always heard that on a typical 28 day cycle then it should be day 14, which matches what Dizie was saying.

The first day of my last period was 4th August, I have a 26 day cycle. According to the ovulation predictor site I use it means I will be fertile as of tomorrow which would be day 10 post period and that I should ovulate on wednesday which would be day 13 post period or day 15 pre period. Does that all sound right to you? Or make no sense what so ever

Always thought it was give or take 14 days in. But I just wait til one side aches...sooo much easier. Only noticed it really after Isla was born, strange how that works.

I personally ovulate 12 days after a period starts, although it can vary from one woman to the next.
I know my timetable because of three types of events that have occurred on day 12:
I sometimes feel a slight pain as the egg breaks loose!
DH will get hornier!!!
Both my girls were conceived on the night of day 3.
I've read somewhere that girls tend to be conceived earlier in the cycle, but am not sure how that works, or whether it's science, as opposed to urban myth?!

I have absolutely no idea, hence my two beautiful little surprises. My periods have always been heavy and erratic so 'trying' for a baby by working out when I ovulate would be pointless.
