I want to buy a laptop. I struggle with the stairs sometimes and the computer is upstairs. Plus I want to be able to go on the computer in the evening but I hate locking myself away from dp as we see little enough of each other as it is. I'm also hoping to start an online course at some point in the near future so I will want it then.
It needs to be internet ready, preferably wireless. My dad can sort most things out but I want it to be reasonably easy. ie. have microsoft, windows etc on it. My dads on holiday and I will ask him when he gets back but I want a cheap one. Anyone know a good one to go for that wont cost a bomb but wont frustrate me by being ultra slow etc.

We bought ours in The Gambia for a bomb. It's a good make, but can't remember which one. It cost £1200, but we're on it all the time. The keyboard is American so there's no pound sign, but hey ho! In fact, we fight over it so much that we're thinking about getting another one.
Have you checked out Ebay, Argos, Comet, PC World, Dixons etc?

Majority of laptops have got the wireless capability so thats a billy bonus. We've got an acer one as well as a normal pc. At the moment only the laptop is hooked up to the binternet...however i've just upgraded to wireless broadband from orange which is only £15 a month...a little man is going to come round and sort out the puters for me. The pc is going to be wired in apparently...but the laptop will be completely wireless...they'll both be able to talk to each other and use the one printer, so billy bonus for me. So at least if hubby is faffing about on one puter.....i dont have to sit and sulk in the corner...cos i can have one too woohoo!
Oh yeah, forgot, he doesn't know about this yet.....ooops.
Have a look on ebay etc. Nearly all laptops now have intel centrino...which is the wireless capability and run on xp.

I bought mine from comet.. acer travelmate 2200.. its ok, does the job. looking back i wish i had waited. i paid £500 for it, and a year down the line, u can get decent ones for £350.
I would reccomend dell, they are cheap and really good for the price.
Im trying to sell mine atm as we have 2 laptops and a pc.. so i really don't need one.
