Hello.

I'm interested in what lone parent organisations there are out there.  One madmum mentioned Gingerbread, but I was wondering if anyone is a member and if so what have they got out of joining?

I would also like to hear of any other organisations that lone parents have joined.

Ideally, it would be better for me on-line, but if there are any meet-ups in the Lincs area, please let me know.

Thank you.

Zo x

Hi babe, Im a member of Gingerbread, as you have found out its not free it is a fiver for a years membership but it does give you something to lean on if you need it. At first I found it really clicky and hard work working out the site but its not so bad now, I dont visit often, but If I need it its there, you also get discounts to places like Legoland lol

Childrens info, or sure start groups are good for single parents, also toddler groups. It keeps you out and about with other mums.

I dont really use single parent organisations though babe, quite a few madmums are single parents. And you know if you ever need any support Im only a pm or phone call away!

I didnt have the opportunity to join anything along those lines, as i was working and all the support groups etc were done through the day.  All I could do, and this is going to sound horrible, was suck it up, get on with it.  Easier said than done, but when I went through it BT made a fortune out of me cos the phone was my lifeline.

Am always about...

does this mean u won't wanna mix wiv us

no only jokin Zo but 1 thing i do wanna say is only thing wiv lone parent groups is u segregate yaself wiv only lone parents. i don't doubt u need fellow single parents as they can sympathise wiv ur situation but jus remember not 2 think u can only talk 2 single people as others may give u the support u need 2.

i know i can't offer alot of help at mo wiv lookin after boys but i'm always a shoulder 2 cry on (as long as i can join in)

love ya

Lou xxx

I'm now a member of Gingerbread and have the contact number of the Lincoln co-ordinator.

Want to get out more and meet people as I have few friends that live nearby.  So I'm going to try and muster up some courage and ring her later on today to ask where and when the next meet is and if I could come.

I really rate SureStart, but I don't think they have a Single Parent session.  Might be wrong so I'll check it out with my local one.

Talking to my HV is a good idea.  Max is due to start nursery next week so I'll ask there as well.

Aww, Zoe.
I've obviously missed out on that one too. I didn't know you were
now a single parent.
I hope tihngs are ok for you and the boys and that you are happy.

I know they sometimes have forums on babycentre and bounty (if i
am aloowed to metion them on here !!) where you can meet other
single parents..

There is also another web site, it's raisingkids.co.uk (i think)

Hope that helps
xx
