I have tried and tried and tried - but no matter how I do it - Lewis will not drink milk - any kind of milk!  I have come to the conclusion that he just doesn't like it.  He drinks sugar-free juice out of his beaker all day long, but if I replace the juice with milk then he won't have anything to do with it and pulls the most funniest of faces when he gets a mouthful of it.

I was also wondering, as he is missing valuable calcium and other vitamins, what else I can give him.  He has yoghurts and fromage frais, cheese and has plenty of fruit and veg.  I also have to be careful on what I give him, I have to keep his weight down as he has a 50% chance of inheriting Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome - which I have, so he needs to keep a healthy weight to keep the pressure off his joints.

Any suggestions and comments will be received gratefully.

Take care everyone!!

Nikki and Lewis xxxx

My friends little girl hates milk but the Gp advised her to buy flavoured milks and just make sure she has a varied dairy diet ie yoghurt, cheese etc

She has a beaker or chocolate or strawberry flavoured milk in the morning and has a yoghurt or some cheese once a day. Hth

Will he eat milk cooked in sauces? Like cheese sauce, white sauce and custard? (obviously not all together..)

Ella went through a phase of not drinking any milk at all and the HV told me that as an absolute minimum, I should try and get her to have 12oz a day - just over half a pint. BUT!! For the calcium intake, Yogurt counts as double its weight and cheese, is 4 times its own weight! i.e. 1 oz cheese = 4 oz worth of milk.

Might be worth a try.

is it the cup he doesn't like?  My friend's LO is over 2 and he won't touch milk out of a cup, he'll only drink it out of a bottle and it has to eb a certain temp or he sends it back!  I think the milkshake idea is a good one - maybe you could puree some strawberries and make a homemade milkshake?

Have you tried anything like Rice milk - I think there is a brand called "Ricedream" and it tastes a bit sweeter than cows milk....

My ds won't drink milk full stop at home but at nursery he drinks it, we tried all different flavours but it didn't work then we tried Omega milk and he started to drink that but that only lasted a week or two, the hv said to give him full fat cheese and yoghurts, he is now 3 and doing fine.

A few months ago I was in a awful state because my lo wouldn't drink her milk at all.  She was only 8 months so I was very worried. Also she is lactose intolerant so I couldn't give her cheese and yoghurts.

I rang one of the nurses at the clinic which deals with her lactose intolerance and she advised me to give her a bottle first thing in the morning because she would be hungry and would be almost guaranteed to get a good 8 ozs into her.

It worked....I am not sure if you have taken him off the bottles yet but its worth a try ????
