Hay Funchick
With my SPD problems I do have some insight into the mobility problems faced, and when you have little children it can be very hard. I'm sure Lewis will continue to do things the way you need. It will be second nature to him.
What you said about the buses, I totally agree. A short time ago when I didn't have the SPD I got on a bus to go to work. An elderly man tried to get his wife into the bus on a ramp for wheelchairs. Well the driver presses a button and the ramp slides out, passenger gets on and the ramp should go back in. Not this time - the ramp wouldn't go back in. The driver had to let everyone off the bus and we had to get on the next one.
Guess what? The ramp on that one wouldn't go back in either and everyone had to get off again. I was so p****d off with the bus company who should have facilities that work! I think the elderly man walked it in the end. Defeats the purpose of the 'freedom pass'.
Anyway the support at madmums is great. I should have stayed on here when Jaden was born with microtia and deaf in his right ear. I was devasted for a long time and shut down completely, then realised support is out there and I came back to Madmums.
Big hugs to you xxx
