Hiya Ladies!

I am having probems with my lo Harry, who started nursery in Sept part time afternoons including the hour lunch club.
He isnt eating his packed lunch i make him and is bringing home everything i send him in with.

He has his breakfast at 7am so i know he is hungry by 11.30 but still wont eat around the table with the other children.
Me and the teachers has discused ways of trying to get him to eat at least something but nothing has worked so far.
Weve tryed his favourite sarnies (chocolate spread) which got brought home untouched, and he has little treats put in like a cake or chocolate bar....which he wouldnt normally have untill after his tea to try and purswade him to eat.

On Friday, i went up to nursery with him to see what exactly was happening at lunch club, and i brought my own packed lunch which had the same in it as Harry had in his to see if he would eat what i ate at the same time.
No luck with that idea, he just sits around the table with his fingers in his mouth and watches everyone else eating.

Its getting to the point now that the nursery has said if he wont eat anything there, he might be better off coming in an hour later and having lunch at home, but i really dont want to do this as when i start work soon, he will be there from 9 till 3 and will NEED to have his lunch.
I am going in again on Monday for an hour or so to do the same again,  but was wondering if anybody else has any ideas that i haven't tryed or thought of??????????

At home he is constantly eating so i know he isnt poorly as this has been since he started there, and he has always had a big appetite and he is starving when he gets home.
I cant leave him much longer like this as he is missing a whole meal throughout the day.

Any ideas please?
Amanda

If he gets really hungry he will eat!  You need to keep to the normal routine at home, ie if he has food at 5pm, then keep it at 5pm and not bring it earlier because he hasn't eaten anything at lunch time.  He will not starve on breakfast and evening meal, but he will eventually figure out that there is no alternative.  As you say he is going to have to go all through the day before long, but some kids do feel shy eating around others.  Has he been like this from the start, or is it just a recent thing.  Maybe one or two of the kids were making fun of him and he has got self conscious.  The bigger deal you make of it, the worse he will get, I know it's easier said than done, but it is behaviour that should be ignored for a short while, to see how you go.
