I know that there were a good few of us being treated for post natal depression over the last year or so, and I wondered how many people had come off the tablets, and how you were doing?

I'm coming off mine at the moment. Slowly, but surely! I'm still at 3 days on 1 day off at the moment and I think I will be for another week. Its surprised me really as although I feel so much better than I did, I can tell that I've reduced the dose. Its manageable, but I have noticed - and I didn't expect that.

It would be lovely to hear from people who have completed their treatment and how they are doing now.

I stopped taking mine, i shouldnt have but they find it extremely hard to find a drug that WORKS for me, loads of them have adverse effects, i get angry on most and my temper soars and i become the spoilt brat no one likes. I told my hv i am NOT taking anymore drugs and that i will find my own way of coping, she wasnt happy with that but tbh i have good days as well as bad days so i think im doing ok...I'm just a touch emotional and snappy! I am glad you are getting on ok diz! xxx

Good on you Dizie.

As you know I've just started the wondrous anti-depressant journey, so I've a long way to go yet.

Please let us know how you get on with weaning yourself off them.  I for one will be reading your posts closely.

Good luck!

Hugs.  Zo x

I'm glad its going ok Dizie.

I was never diagnosed with PND but I have recently had/have got depression. I am hoping to come off the anti depressents soon as I am sure it was caused by the depo injection which I have now been off for a month.

I am not better yet - however prior to coming off the depo I was talking to my gp about uping my dose of sertraline whereas now I feel happy on what I am on so I see that as an improvement.

I find it really useful to see how other people are doing with their treatment and its really nice to be able to talk to people in the same position.

I think this forum will be useful for new members as they join if they suffer from PND or any other sort of depression.

I will keep you updated on how it goes. If its of interest, I have a blog which I could copy onto here in another post. I've done it away from Madmums purely as I needed somewhere to just vent it all out and didn't want to bore you lot!

you never bore us you noodle! lol

joking aside tho, i was on anti depressants, and am now successfully off them.

i went to the docs after id been on them a while and she asked how i was, i said i felt great like a new woman, and she said maybe we should try weaning you off the prozac... so i started taking 1 every other day.

i started off fine, and felt ok, just a few panicky minutes everyday, but things at home were a bit tense at the time with neighbours being disruptive and stuff, so i put that down to that and knowing i wasnt getting my usual "hit" lol

anyway, i started running out of tablets and was meant to go back and get more but things got in the way and i never did...then i forgot to take one on the day i was supposed to and i felt ok...so i never got any more! i still have 1 solitary tablet in the cupboard and ive been off them for a few months now!

so theres my story, hope ive helped!
