Plz help Im not sure what else to try as i feel like ive done everything i can

my 9 month old son used to sleep thru from 630 to 7am no prob, no waking no crying...nothing

but

just lately (last 2 or 3 weeks) he is crying in his sleep from about 1am every half an hour!!! then he is awake at 5am, so changed his bum and he goes back to sleep but only till 6!!!! i really dont know what to do with him. i really need sleep its really getting me down now. hubby helps at weekends and takes over when he gets in from work but i feel bad cos he has been working all day

ive tried putting him to bed later, giving him extra bottle (which he doesnt want), more food at meal times, changing his bum before going to bed, tried ignoring him but have 2 other kids( 9 and 7) and not fair on them all hubby

any ideas before i go mad!!!

please................

Has he got some teeth coming through, that might be it.

Could be a growth spurt, or is there something spooking him in his room. Other than that mate, i havent got a clue.  Hang in there.

teething is a common cause for this at 9 months.  Why dont you try putting a little bonjela on before bed time to ease the gums through sleep.  Also if he wakes again apply a little more gel to see if it'll help him back to sleep for the rst of the night.  Besides that it may just be a phase, one of my kids had a patch over a couple of months where they woke constantly during the night them it suddenly stopped as quickly as it started.  I know its difficult but it wont last, you'll be back to your snug nights in no time

I know this is gonna sound cold, but the family will have to endure it while lo is going through this!  I made the mistake of trying to keep lo quiet because they had school/work.  I am still suffering for it.  It could be cold or teething, as with teething the pain can be there for weeks before the teeth come through and there isn't a whole heap you can do.  Fred is terrible, to the point I was up at 2am last night with him.  However when I got him a water bottle and tething gel, and put him back to bed, he went out like a light, as did I when I did me a water bottle too! lol Hope you get some sleep soon, I know exactly where you are coming from!

Hiya,

Firstly huge big hugs , it's been a long time since my lo's were at that stage (they're now 6 & 4) but I remember the physical and mental exhaustion like it was only yesterday... It really is torture and it makes you feel so incompetent when you can't gage what's wrong.. You are then soooo tired through the day but still have to function 'normally'... yep, I can definitely relate to that!!!!

I know someones already suggested powders for the teething have you tried them?  I tried absolutely everything on the market (and I'm not kidding!) and I found the best thing was the 'New Era' teething granules.. You just pop a couple into their mouths and they disolve away... they're homeopathic so there's no nasty stuff in them and you can even dissolve them in some water to give a drink.. I was so impressed by them that when my youngest suffered from colic too I got the granules for that as well (Infacol etc was a complete waste of time).  New Era is the brand name (they are in a white bottle with pink writing: at least that was the case 4yrs ago!) and most independent chemists (and some Boots) and health food shops do them.. They have granules for just about every ailment you can think of (for adults too!) so it wouldn't do any harm to give them a try..

Here's another hug and if you can get to your bed just now... go!!

PS. I think when Supernanny et al talk about the 'let them cry technique' they forget how difficult and disruptive it is when there are other people in the house to consider... I really, really hope you get to the bottom of it soon!
