Personally I would stick to the baby rice/porridge for now-he's still getting used to the textures. Plus it takes time for his digestive system to adapt.

But the others might have some other advice.

YOu sound like you are doing well!  4 months is what they recommended when I had my first 3, my 4th was weaned at 6 weeks (he was a fat hungry baby! lol) and this one was at about 3 months!  It's just a case of making it up as you go along!  I was just wondering the other day if I was doing it right (the fact that he is getting heavier, and the food is going down means I must be! lol)  If you look  at the jars and tins on the shelf, they pretty much give them normal food mixed whereas i fed fred individual ones to start with.  Now ds1 was on jars etc and now eats anything and everything, Fred is very finicky!  I've tried butternut squash, pear apple, pineapple, banana, carrot (which he HATES), but if you find he may be getting bores mix things up a bit.  How much does he eat at one meal time, Winston eats about 6 ice cubes quantity wise (I know but he loves it) so I mix and match different fruits and veg so he gets a variety of flavours!  If you don't add salt to your cooking you can pretty much give him what you are eating.  The only reason they say about introducing one food at a time is in case of an allergic reaction, that way it's easier to pinpoint which one it is!  I tend to mix baby rice with everything that way it makes him feel fuller. HTH sorry I am rambling on now! lol  Let us know how you get on!  So long as baby is happy, then why worry!

Well done on weaning ur lo so well sounds like hes enjoying his food

id stick with the fruit & veg for a little while longer before introducing meat & fish but its up to u. Chicken & fish are probably easier to digest than red meats but im no expert wen it comes to food

I had Ryan on rusk only for 4 weeks before i introduced veg but he was only 11 weeks wen i started weaning

Good luck - This article on weaning by mumsam might help u  http://www.madmums.com/GH_ShowArticle.asp?HID=47

i think your doing brilliantly Hun, and don't think your doing wrong everyones different and all babies are too, some need weaning earlier than others especially if there hungry babies, i loved the weaning stage but often thought that molly was bored on what she was eating but to be fair you are giving your lo a good variety already, fruit and veg are brill for them - i must admit molly loved mushed up mash fish and parsley sauce (she was a tad older than 4 months though) good luck you don't sound like you need it - but let us know how you get on xx jue xx

I started weaning both Taylor and Sophie just before 4 month, they both were showing signs they wanted more than just milk..

I started with the rice and rusks... i spent 4 hours one cold sunday morning making up batches of veg and fruit, and Sophie won't eat them, she much prefers rice, rusks or jar food...

I have no probs with giving her jar food as Taylor only had jars and he is fine, eats everything.

She is now on breakie which is the powdered box one's... its porridge at the mo. One jar for dinner and half a jar for pudding.

Not sure if i should be doing this really, but i add a tiny bit of rice to her food sometimes just to add different tastes and textures.
