Joshua has always been a typical boy, climbing getting into things the usual. However his sense of fear seems non-existant and its some what scaring me. I know Zoe remembers the time at hers her just threw himself at a fence, climbed it, tumbled off, dustied himself and did it again at the next opportunity lol

He does things like this all the time, and I try to explain to him the dangers of what he does, well once Ive stopped pee'ing myself laughing lol (ok I do try not to let him see me laugh but it is hillarious)

At my mums this weekend, they have video footage of him scaling their back fence and climbing onto the wheely bins (do not ask why they were recording and not telling him off!!) And then today we were playing and having cuddles when he got boistrous and started throwing himself off the chairs towards me. I stopped him, explained it was dangerous and he could hurt himself (his reply is a whole other thread lol). But as soon as my bank was turned he started doing it, and fell off the chair. But instead of stopping he dustied himself off and started again.

If he doesnt stop this fearless behaviour he is going to get seriously hurt when Im not looking. Ive told him off, Ive talked to him about danders and risks, and Ive let him hurt himself (sort of) but he just does it again. How can I make him see what he does is dangerous. These are just a few examples everyday life is like one big action movie with him as the stuntman lol

Oh God I have this all to come! Edward is exactly the same only younger. Today he threw himself headfirst off the arm of the sofa, cut his lip, and once he'd stopped bleeding I found him doing the same thing!

This is an everyday occurance!

Apart from explaining to him there isnt much you can do. At the moment I dont want to scare Edward off so I just make sure the areas are as safe and secure as possible for him.

This is quite a hard one isnt it!!
Obviously you cant just ignore this as he could really hurt himself one of these days, but then again how can you possibly watch them 24/7!!

I have no idea as to what you can do to get him to stop it, apart from what you've already tryed.
Just keep explaining to him how dangerous it is and like Madz said, just try and make sure everywhere is as safe as it possibly can be.

If all else fails, take him along to an acting agency and get him booked up for the next big action movie

ouch...close your eyes lol.  Mind you I cant say anything joe at 30..is still doing the same.  They either grow out of it eventually or they dont.  One of the days he will hurt himself..and it looks like (i know this is going to sound horrible and i really dont mean it to) the only way hes going to learn is if he does hurt himself.  Tasja wasnt so bad and was quite happy with the no thats dangerous..isla however, has to make sure that you aint telling fibs!

Hate to say this, but my littlest has hurt himself plenty of times doing the same old things (not seriously hurt, but enough for tears and some blood usually) and still does them. (Most impressive being opening the drawers in the chest in the lounge to different amounts to use them as stairs, then stand on the top to play with the radio, and jump straight down again from 5 feet. Or climbing on a chair, then the table then the FISH TANK to be able to reach the light switch. We moved the fish!) He really does have no fear of heights, water, animals, anything (except fireworks). The only thing you can do is keep telling them, and then telling them again, and again...

Doesn't seem to work though, at least for me. Anyone know where you can get three-year-old size full body straight jackets?

Rachel you forgot the universal measure for when its time to get out of the swimming pool... Joe has no fear of water either so when we go swimming, he's always throwing himself about and ends up swallowing most of the pool. You always know its time to get out when Joe throws up!

Ella seems to be following in his footsteps for having no fear....

libby is the same hun, the other day she went and sat on the arm of the chair and started bouncing to which i shouted get down and she ignored me..a split second later she laughed then promptly fell head first onto the laminate floor!

she ended up with a lovely egg on her head and screamed the place down for a few mins but she is still doing it to this day!

everytime we say stop it get down she throws her hand towards you and says naughty! little monkey!

she has no fear at all and regularly climbs into her highchair via the washing basket!

This is my of my cheery up memory of Joshua.  Everytime I think about it it makes me chuckle out loud.  It happened in slow motion, Joshua leaning over, his bum being above his head then his legs...then thud as his head hit the ground and the little tyke just got up and started running amok again...with my two tykes in hot pursuit!  Wasn't his face covered in mud down one side so he looked like he'd just been in combat too?

I don't think you can stop him or warn him.  Joshua is a normal, active and curious little boy and I would like to say he'll learn, but then do men ever grow out of that?

As long as you're there with the dettol and cotton wool in hand I'm sure he'll be alright...oh, and be sure to memorise the quickest route to A & E!!!
