Joshua's speech improves daily, I can hold a very long clear conversation with him no problem. However he has developed a some what snobbish attitude to speech, and a cheeky one too lol

Now I know I pronounce some of my words well before I get ear ache (jen pmsl) but he does it with everything. Im worried that he'll get picked on for it. he'll just come out withthings like, "oh mum, that was wonderful" or whatever but take that sentence with a snob twang and you have Joshua lol Or he will do the same in response to questions. If I didnt know better id think I had a well spoke adult replying to me and Im not sure this is a good thing. Should I be encouraging him to use more appropriate words for his age group, or should I let his vocab expand in the way he feels it should and can?

On top of this he is being so cheeky lol Im finding it hard to keep up with him rofl. He'll just come out with comments and phrases that leave me speechless. Like when I said it was bedtime last night, his reply "mum your attitude stinks telling me its bed time" so he got told off for being cheeky and sent to bed, and then he lay there and said that i could make his eyes shut and he'll sleep when he got tired... I mean please tell me this is normal cheek for a 3 year old lol

His dialect is far better than mine, and Im begining to wonder if his vocab is as well lol Im not sure the best way to encourage his speech!

Personally I wouldnt knock him for using 'proper' pronounciation etc. I think its great he talks so well and so clearly but most importantly so poiltely! It will do him well and I dont think he'll get bullied for it. Kids get bullied for all sorts, I was bullied for being posh just because my parents had a big house (It cost them very little coz they built it and they dont earn very much) but my parents werent about to sell their house just because I might get bullied - plus it means the bullys win.

As for being cheeky - I dont know whats normal or not but I would just keep telling him off for the bad and praising the good. All kids, esspecially boys, can be very cheeky (my brother is still as bad at 17) but overall Joshuas behaviour is great so I wouldnt worry.

hehe chris, Joshua talks too well for his age but there is no harm in that, he'll go far because of his language one day.  As for they way he talks...well, you really mustn't hear yourself very often, I dont know what accent yuhave is  mix of about 10 things and now with the welosh ontop lol but you sound like a fake rich girl, lol.  I cant think of any other way to explain it, what you hear from Joshua does come from you, like it or not hehe!!!

Oi nothing wrong with common Manc's lol

I'd leave him be and not worry, he's just expressing himself. As for being cheeky, yes most 3 y/o are, Harry is just as bad he told me off tonight for not finishing my tea and told me I couldn't leave the table until I attempted at least two more mouthfuls rofl

Ethan (also 3) has started saying things to me and I don't know where he's getting it from, maybe pre-school as it is stuff I never say, he told me I was "making a dreadful mess" the other day, also playing with his trains and cars and one of them was the "dettinator", if he smells something nice he'll ask "whats that delicous smell?". Overall, his sentences have just become much more complex in the last couple of weeks. I think it can only be a good thing that his vocabulary is expanding, although it shocks me when I hear things for the first time.

As for being cheeky....... don't even get me started on that.
