I started feeling really groggy yesterday afternoon.  You know the cold symptoms, runny nose, sore throat.  Anyways I tucked myself up in bed with a hot water bottle at 8pm last night and fell asleep straight away.  I've been up  few times in the night feeling terrible and this morning I couldn't move.  My head feels like it's swollen 10 times over,  ever bone and muscle in my body is aching, My nose is so blocked I just wanna chop it off and I cant stop caughing which is making my throat really sore.   I dont know if it's a bad cold or the onset of flu (i aint had my flu jab this year).  All I do know is I just wanna curl up in bed and sleep.  With this ontop of all the PG symptoms I'm struggling to do my every day things nd I've got all the kids tolook after.  Does anyone know anything I can take during pregnancy that will help?

dont think you can take anything which is a mare.  Might be allowed paracetamol but im not sure cos I cant remember.

You cant have the lemsips either which is a mare..but there is an alternative.  If youve got any ordinary juice..just make it with hot water..add a bit of sugar and have some of that.  Its nice, you can drink as much of it as you like, makes you feel a bit better and gets the vit c back into you.  Apart from that mate not a lot you can do which is big purple granny pants.

Hope you start to feel better soon.  Its always worse when you are up to your eyeballs at the best of times, as well as being pg..just cant win.

Anyway, have a hug, try and chill..stay all wrapped up snuggly warm and have a hot juice drink

I was gonna suggest popping into your local chemist or Boots store and ask them for advice on what you can take during pg... but it sounds like you dont even wanna move an inch if you can help it,
So id try Steph's idea and make your own lemsips.
It might help to make you feel better.

Hope it passes soon for you as i know how hard it is to do 'normal' everyday chores when your not well... but to save a bit of energy, what housework you can leave for a while, do!!!
And im sure your kids could pop the duster round for you.... for an extra choccie bar that is.
Just try to rest as much as you can, and hope you feel better soon.

I rang my doc to see if there was anything besides paracetamol that I could take.  I explained what was going on and shesaid it sounds like I've got an infection so has prescribed some antibiotics which I can pick up after 2.  Means I have to go out now though, I really dont feel like it.  Guess I'll just wrap up and get there and back.  I'm hopin the anti b's will kick in quick time so I can get on with my everyday things.
