I didn't even know you could buy them commercially.

Sorry, but don't see the point.  Sounds like another gimmick.

When I was pregnant with Oliver I really wanted one of these I thought how reasuring it would be to hear your babies heartbeat when ever you wanted to.  At the time I was a member of another website and there were quite a few women on their with them.  All they seemed to do was make the women panic more when they couldn't find the heartbeat.  I decided against getting one as I knew I would be beside myself if I couldn't find the heartbeat and that it would cause more stress than it was worth.

hi,

i borrowed one from a friend when i was pregnant with my little girl and found it wasnt very good. it worked for her a couple of times but that was it. i ended up spending most of my time wondering if everything was okay. midwife told me that its hard to find a decent one and she advised me not to bother nxt time coz it just worries you more when you cant find the heartbeat yourself. i,m pregnant again and this time im defo not gona use one coz it causes to much worry and stres when you cant find the heartbeat on it.

Never had one and I don't think I would get one either.  They cause unnecessary panic and think if the dopplor is £50-75 then you could buy a high tech baby monitor or it could go towards the pram/stroller.

Hope this poll helps you a little on your desision.

I think they are a nice idea but quite honestly I'm such a worrier anyway that I knew I'd be a total wreck if I couldn't find the baby's heartbeat for whatever reason and so I didn't bother with one...

I was given one to borrow off my local hospital from 30 weeks onwards with my first pregnancy.  Only because i had my appendix taken out at 30 weeks and i was very stressed and anxious as we both could have been lost during the operation because of how bad it was but more so my baby could have gone, and it just helped my to relax to know i could hear my baby.

Love Trudi.  xx
