how old is the stepson?

if under 10 you could suggest dvd/popcorn making or interactive game?

if over give them some options-just in case they get bored!!

My Stepson is 14, and is down here for New Year.  We let him use the internet and watch late night tv - until yesterday.  Yesterday we discovered that he had run up a £110 phone bill on Saturday night ringing premium-rate chat lines!!!  Lets just say I was slightly peeved!!!  Needless to say that he is grounded until he goes back home and we have taken his phone off him.

I think it would probably be better to let them get on with what they want to do, but the pop corn and DVD's are always a winner with teens so have some handy for when the 'were bored' remarks come during the night!!
And deffinately no phone too

My dd is 15 and nowadays when she has a friend to stay, I just leave them to it.  They are usually sitting in my kitchen on the computer or playing loud music in her room. She knows she can help herself to food etc. Its her guest, so I feel that she has to learn how to look after them.

Chuck a few DVD's and a ton of fizzy pop and high sugar snacks at them and close the door.

Love Trudi.  xx
