We've just bought one of those memory foam mattresses and it's fab!

They're normally quite expensive, but I got a new one from a shop on e-bay for half of what I've seen them in the shops. If you don't want a new mattress, you can also get just mattress toppers which I also hear are good.  I had quite bad SPD in my last two pregnancies, and my hips have never been the same since, and I often have trouble sleeping due to being uncomfortable. No longer! I can now lie on my side again and it's brill!

They work by spreading the load of your body more evenly over the surface area and reducing pressure points. I always felt that my hips were too high on an ordinary mattress, but this one kind of moulds to your shape.

I would heartily recommend these to anyone, particularly if you have SPD, and I imagine they're supportive to a pregnant tummy too.

We have a memory foam mattress too we have had it for about a year now.  Keith suffers with a bad back as well as his shoulder being very painful for multiple operations and dislocations, we have both found it brilliant.  We bought ours from a local shop and again didn't pay half as much as in most department type stores.  It took a little getting used to as it isn't like anything you have slept on before but I wouldn't swap it for anything else now it's great.

I totally agree

We got one when we moved into this house a year ago, like you bought from a shop from Ebay, and its fantastic

As Sam says it does take a bit of getting used to but I found the difference the next morning amazing

I don't have any major problems with aches and pains nor does dh but we couldn't believe what a difference it made to our sleeping

Deffo recommend one
