Hey

Sophie atm is on packet food for breakie (managed to get her on to jar food for dinner, woooo) but im thinking about puttin her on proper cereals.

What can i give a 8 month old?? I have tried toast and she just mushes it up and doesn't really eat it. I have some porridge but im not sure if it will be ok cause you can't give babie's certain cereals (weetabix i think)

Im desperate to get her off the packet food and on to proper food, and i sooo can't remember what i done with Taylor at this age regarding food (was nearly 5 years ago) pls help if you can..

Cheers x x x

I'm not sure about porridge, but you can give weetabix or readybrek from 6 months.

Ella was a total pickle when it came to weetabix and wouldn't eat it as she really liked the Cow and Gate powdered cereals (sunshine orange being her fave!) so I started to mix weetabix in with the powdered stuff, building up the quantity over time until it was all weetabix and no orange.

Hope this helps!

Weetabix and readybreak is pretty much all I gave mine until they could handle the lumps a little easier.  Shreddies is also good if you let it go soggy.

Ben still hasReady Brek and Weetabix for his brekkie. Now he's a bit older, I put banana pieces with it! He loves it! My friend's little girl is 17 months and has Cheerios. Ben's a bit weird about stuff like that, so we just stick to what we know he likes. Might try something like rice crispies or conflakes in summr.

I think as long as it is the right consitancy and doesn't contain added sugar and stuff like that then you should be ok with an 8 mth old.

Nicki, I seem to remember that Cow and Gate do a free weaning book that includes something about what foods can be given at what age. Their number is 08457 623 623.

There was a pull out chart that I put in the kitchen. I've no idea where it is now, but I found the helpline was really good. Might be worth giving them a call.
