OMG im watching a programme on channel 4 'aged 12 & looking after the family'

I can't understand it, why anyone would hav 6 kids & another on the way when they obviously can't cope. Fair enough it must be so hard that they are both blind but i just think its unfair on their daughters to be looking after all those los, they should at least accept the help they are being offered for the sake of their children

Anyone else watching?

Aww i forgot this was on i saw it advertised.

Obviously they are trying to live a normal life but why have more if you know you can't do it yourself.

Its obvious that this is unfair on the child.

Me and DP got so angry just watching this programme advertised we didnt watch it. I have every sympathy for blind people and I dont think it should disqualify you from having children however it is important that there is a support network in place to deal with it so the help is there. A 12 year old girl is not a support network. And why go on to have more children knowing you cannot cope!

I'm sorry but this just sounds like a form of child abuse to me but people are too politically correct to say anything!!!

(Sorry rant over!)

I found this program really unconfortable viewing but just had to watch it, i felt so sorry for all of the children and feel very strongly it was child abuse, the house was so dirty and the childrens clothes where minging, the babies nappies where changed before the girls went to school and then when they got home, so if the babies had pooed 5 mins after the kids had left for school they had to stay in them allday, and to not fault of the girls really but when they where changing the nappies they left bits of poo on them and all the lazy parent s could say was it teaching them for when they have kids of there own and we want lots of kids so they will look after us when we get old. The parents actually refused help and made the girls do it. They where both emotonally damaged by it. the eldest had just emotionaly shut down and was so cold and lashed out at the kids and the youngest girl aged 9 tried to kill herself social services should be ashamed. I believe that people should have the choice of how many kids they want but im sorry these 2 didnt make any effort what so ever, i know blind people that make great parents and a do as good a job as sighted people but these 2 all they could do was drink and smoke. I am so angry about it so sorry for the rant. I hope some thing will be done to help the poor kids now as they cetainly deserve it.

I think the main reason i watched it all the way to the end was that i was hoping for a 'happily ever after' ending

At least the parents hav supposedly started smoking outside, but having a bigger house only means more work for the girls

I thought the 12 year old seems very emotionally immature for her age, laughing about the fact her sister attempted suicide & from that it was obvious they were both badly affected by their lives

What shocked me more was that both parents said at seperate times that there reason for having so many kids was for the kids to look after them wen they are old. I totally agree with madz i saw the whole thing as child abuse & am shocked the social services havent intervened

ARGH lol
