It's going about up here in Ayrshire.

David has caught it...arrghhh!  He's a poor wee soul, looks like Desperate Dan from the Beano.  I got him Baxter's Soup to cheer him up.

Anybody had this before?  What can I do to help him more.

It was bloomin ironic as I was talking about it the day before in college to my lecturer, Lorna.  Travs childminder thought he had it.  Turns out he has just a rash.  Anyhoos I go in the next day like, "Lorna, David is in bed with the MUMPS!  Arrrgh!!"

Take it David didn't have his MMR when he was younger then?

Travis should be protected if he has had his.

There isn't much that can be done I don't think hun,  hope he gets better soon

I have no idea...surely the immunisation as a kid wouldn't protect you as an adult?  David's mum took him for every immunisation offered as a child.

Travis had his.

There's a reported case of 5 people at college off with it, and many people across Ayrshire have had it.  Just making sure he's comfy and has plenty of water and paracetamol.

I am not sure about it really chick - I have heard of people being recalled for the immunisation so it perhaps does wear off.

Hope he gets better soon

Lorna, hope David is feeling better soon. Mumps can be really painful so I have been told. Don't remember ever having it and so far none of the kids have but they have all had their mmr.

Kirstins friend had it over Christmas so maybe the vaccination does wear off but Kirstin never caught it from her.

Mumps can make males sterile in later life.  My brother had mumps when he was younger and has a test every couple of years to make sure his swimmers are swimming and doing what they should be doing.

Love Trudi.  xx
