I really am the worlds worst mother! I was changing Eddie on monday for his bath and the sun was streaming through the window making him squint so i turned my back for 2 seconds to put the blind down and when i turned back round he was hanging off the change mat falling to the floor, it all seemed to happen in slow motion and he screamed when he hit the floor. I scooped him up and rushed into out room and put him on the bed and checked him over and then hugged him tight. He was laughing wihin 1 minute of it happening but I am still getting over it. I cant belive he did it in such a short space of time! I felt so guilty! Hes ok now but what if he hadnt been... it doesnt bear thinking about!

I change him in the middle of our bed now!

I cant bend down to do ed on the floor, it makes my spd kick back in!

it is the only time i have ever turned from him while hes on there! its prob just under a metre from the ground, he sort of hung from the edge of the mat as he fell so it slowed him down.

when i told dp he admited he slipped from the sofa once while he got a bottle for him. it was feet first and eddie didnt even cry but dp was too scared to tell me!

just so relieved hes ok now. hes been spoilt rotten since!

Aww I wouldn't worry too much Madz, wait until he's mobile your heart will be in your mouth all the time.  Ollie rolled in his playpen yesterday and smacked his head on the bars and cried and he couldn't have been any closer to the ground.  I like the others change him on the floor and now he is rolling he escapes every time.  Ollie also caught his tummy in the highchair straps yesterday and has a little bruise on his belly.  I had sat him in there with just his nappy and not sure how he managed to hurt himself as the strap was done up securely.  These things happen and I am sure he has forgotten all about it, it's just us Mums that get left to fret about it.

When H was a baby he fell of our bed he's 3 now and in his three short years he has had his head glued twice along with numerous injuries he is so clumsy you cant watch then 24/7 its impossible im dreading him going to school hes full of bruises he thinks he's buzz lightyear and his imaginary mate colin is woody i often think people look at him n think he's a battered child lol

Glad Ed's ok, though it shows how tough they really are when the laugh just a short time after having an accident i think the initial cry is more throug shock than pain
