It doesn't really mean an awful lot to us.  The bird died in September in quarantine.  It had been imported from South America.  GB is still classed as free from bird flu as the bird was in quarentine.  Just glad we still have fairly tight quarentine laws in this country.

Greece is the only European country that has had a confirmed case of Avian Flu.  Think we are safe for a bit longer

Im not liking these stories 1 bit. I heard on the news that another person has died from it (not in GB tho) & it was from eating an infected bird?

On the plus side  we r now supposed 2 b getting enough vaccinations for the whole of britain, originally there was only gonna b enough for 1/4 of the population but it could b months b4 we recieve any, there was talk of us not having any until July 2006

July 2006 is not too bad as as the Avian flu if it reaches GB isn't meant to get here until around September 2006.  The Government are also stocking up on the drug to treat the virus.  I wouldn't panic just yet unless you are travelling to any country that has it then you would be advised to seek medical advice first.
