We have noticed this week that we have both the Cbeebies Logo and the BBC inter-active logo burnt into the screen of our rear projection tv

For those that don't know and own either Plasma or Projection TV, some of the sky channel logo's can burn to your screen in less than 2 hours of continous watching of that station. The time is dependent on the logo/channel and make of TV. Apparently the BBC inter-active logo is one of the worse culprits, although that facility can be set to time off your screen from a setting within your Sky Box setup, the actual channel logos though are broadcast from the station and can not be removed, so be warned.

HTH someone and saves someone ruining an expensive TV.

I didn't realise it affected plasma's too. Will mention that to next door as they have one.

I know you can turn off the interactive logo, but can you turn off the station logo too? i.e. cbeebies?

No you can't turn off the station logos like Cbeebies.  The only thing you can do to prevent the burn is either not watch those stations or only watch them for an hour at a time.  It's not repairable either, and yes plasma screens burn just as badly as rear projection.

Another good reason not to let my monster watch TV. Flip looks like your going to have to find a less damaging channel to keep you entertained throughout the day!

There is a huge internet petition to get TV stations to do something about it at the moment, it's a real issue. I read a story where some women had paid £2,000 for TV and it was ruined within a month by BBC News 24  Our TV is still watchable/usable it just shows when there is a light back ground in the picture.
