Hi everyone! My name is Susi, my partner is Gav. We have 4 children ranging in age from 8 years to 6 months. I have SPD and am currently in a wheelchair because of it, hopefully its not too long term! Hopefully I'll get chatting with some of you soon, I'm always open to make new friends!

hi Susi, welcome to madmum's and i'm sorry to hear that you too have spd.

Did you have the spd with all four of your pregnancies or just the last one? Also may i ask what treatment/help have you had so far?

Your family and gav sound fantastic which is just what you need.

I'm Tsena and i live with my dp in Cambridgeshire i have 2 boys, 6 yrs and a nearly 2 year old.

I had spd with my first pregnancy but it was left misdiagnosed till the second pregnancy which was given the same name as the first time but my dp wasn't happy with the treatment and we transfered hospitals to have both the current pregnancy and the previous one diagnosed with spd! Just a bit of a shock!

Well that was all nearly 2 years ago and i'm still suffering, i have recently founbd out though that i have another condition which hasn't been helping. I'm using crutches and a mobility scooter for longer walks. I have had a tempory and trial injection to see if my bodies receptive to prolotherapy which it seemed to be so now waiting to see the consultant again to find out where we go from here.

We do have a spd article on here which has some tips and pointers, otherwise we also offer a buddy scheme (see the link on the bottom of my post) where you can have some one to one support if you feel you need or would like it.

We live in Staffordshire with my dh, Mark.
Welcome to Madmums, im sorry to hear your spd has caused you to be wheelchair bound at the moment.. fingers crossed it starts to get easier soon.

Hi I'm Kim, mum to Rebecca 13, Ruthie 11 and Cameron 4. I'm also pg with No.4 . We live in Norfolk with dh.

Sorry to hear that you are suffering so badly with your SPD at the moment. I was diagnosed with it while pg with Ruthie - and have had it ever since. After being induced early with Ruthie, I went on to have very little problems while pg with Cameron, so have my fingers crossed it's not too bad with this one! Did you have it with all of your lo's? You'll find excellent support here - lots of people who can understand what you're going through and hopefully be able to give you lots of advice as well as support.

Hiya hun & welcome to the madness...

I'm Jen and I live in Scotland with my hubby and two daughters, Caitlin & Megan.  I too have SPD although I'm currently recovering from having plates put accross the symphsis ans screws in my SI joints.  I've suffered it for about 8 yrs now and finally I'm getting better.. I've gone from using a wheelchair all of the time to hobbling about with just the one cructh.  I still have good/bad days (usually because I do too much when I fell good - sods law eh!) but in the whole it's looking really postive that I'll eventually be able to walk unaided.

I really hope you manage to recover from your hun as I obvioulsy know from personal experience how it can affect you mentally as well as physically.  How is the treatment/awareness where you live? have you had any treatment yet? Like Zany said earlier, we run a buddy system on here to try and give that little bit of additional support as/when it's needed so if you ever want to talk, please feel free to get in touch with one of us... we totally understand what it's like and we're all here if you to laugh, cry, moan, shout or whatever..

Hi hun

I replied and introduced myself on the chronic pain thread - but I wanted to say welcome again - and as far as SPD goes you really are not alone - from one fellow sufferer to another.

I have prolotherapy injections and am now on the mend - this after being told I would never walk unaided by an orthopedic surgeon.

There is hope! Never give up! Although I know how hard that can be!
