Helen and Colin next door have a beautiful little girl, Chloe (7 months). Colin is exactly the most hygenic person ever and he is a hoarder. I was chatting to Helen and she said that her health visitor has threatned them with Chloe going into care if the house isn't cleared up (it stinks as well).
Should I offer to go and help or stay out of it ?
They love the wee one so much and it'd be awful to see her go into care.

Known them for over 2 years now. Colin dosen't seem to notice his smell or the houses state or whiff.

They love the wee one so much and I'd hate to see her taken away from them but they aren't even like starting. I just thought if I offered to go round on a specific day to help clear and clean, they might pull their fingers out.

I think the problem here is if you offer and clear up, and the little girl is left with them, they might not carry on, and then the little girl will be taken away anyway.

Unfortunatley once you start, when does it finish. I dont want you to always feel drawn to carry on helping them.

If you want to help I think the only way would be with words.

I'm sorry I cant offer a better solution and I do really feel for you in what you are going through.

Hmmmm toughie.....

If i was you it's hard to not feel your heart strings get pulled but to get in this position in the first place is a worry.... i would possibly offer cleaning tips.... have you tried this and this..... and say would it help if i had lo for an hr so you could crack on.... or go over and sit with the little one....

It's hard to say yes or no as they have to learn the hard way how to keep there house clean and nice for there lo.

I'd say they have to try themselves.  It must be horrific if the health visitor is saying the wee one will have to go into care- and the very fact that the threat of this isn't putting them into gear speaks volumes.  Is there some kind of physical problem stopping them from cleaning?  Do they work long hours?  Do they have any family to help?

aww what a shame especially if the child is loved and well cared for, i think having a word with them may help they may get there acts into gear i feel its such a shame though as alot of smelly and messy people don't realize just how bad they are as they get so used to it, makes me mad to think though they are great with there child and love it dearly and they may have it taken into care when there are people out there with immaculate houses etc who's children are suffering big time and nothing gets done to them good luck Hun luv jue xx
