Does anyone have any ideas about buffets, i've got milly's christening next sunday - i know it is very very late, but i've never made one before. I am a little bit panicky now, think there will be about 50 people there. i've got a few people to do some things like salad etc, but am struggling a bit. The christening is at 12 30 so will be limited to time on the morning

Hiya Jackie
Take a deep breath, this isnt as dawnting as it seems. Right a buffet for 50 peeps. Iceland do a great range of stuff, like sossie rolls, quiches, pork pies - that kind of thing.
Sandwiches - open sandwiches are the easiest, topped with cheese savoury, tuna mayo, egg mayo, cornedbeef savoury etc.
Crisps, pretzles, breadsticks
Pizza cut into slices, a couple of gateaux's from Iceland and jobs done!

50 people might sound like a lot to cater for, but from my experience, every buffet i've been to, there's always loads left over, so dont stress that you haven't brought enough and panic buy in tons more(like i always do lol) I would certainly have a look around your local Iceland for idea's, they do great party nibbles and foods perfect for buffets, and i also agree with Becky.. if there are things you can prepare the night before and stick in the fridge, it will give you more time and less stress in the morning! I hope it all goes smoothly. x-x-x

It really isnt as daunting as it seems. Make sure you have plenty of sandwiches, and sauasgae rolls. Frozen party pizza's are great too. Maybe a bowl of cocktail sausages, cheese and pineapple on sticks (could dice the cheese and put in a plastic box/ covered bowl over night in the fridge. For the sweets, you could make trifle the night before, jelly Saturday morning, add cooled custard Saturday night then make the dream topping first thing. Gataux's always go down well, or you can mini frozen cakes. Few bowls of crisps and snacks. Maybe have dips and bread sticks. A salad too. Tune pasta, that can be made the day before. Ok think Im feeding the 5000 now lol.. oh chicken drumsticks can be cooked the night before!
Im sure it will all go smoothly babe! Try to concentrate on the day with Millie rather than the food. No one will starve.. they can all cook when they get home if there's not enough!
Oh and to add a little note.. Morrinsons do the silver platters 2 packs of 2 (4 platters) for £1.50 a fraction of what Tesco charge I noticed last week when I did Joshua's party!

Hmmm I agree ICELAND if you have one local, they are fab, you can get party food and desserts for 3 for a £5 or a similar price.... they have a wide range too, catering for vegetarians and meat eaters, kids too.
