Hi all, I joined a few weeks ago and am feeling brave enough to make a post now. Feeling a bit down today, had yet another bfn. Have had 3 mc's in the past and have been trying for a while now, to top it all been to see the nurse and she tells me it looks like my womb is erroding. I've never heard this before and am a bit worried now this will stop me ttc. Anyone heard of this or got any advice?

Never heard of it chica...nurses are good dont get me wrong...but theyve not got the same piece of paper that a doctor has.  Make an appt with your doc and see what he/she says.

It can take a while ttc..so chin up chica.

Oh yeah..im steph, 30, married with two girls, natasja 8 and isla 3..got two dogs and a cutty pat..glad youve joined..looking forward to catching up with you as and when

I've heard of a cervical erosion, but not a womb erosion, not sure if they are the same thing or not though?

As far as i'm aware it shouldn't stop you ttc. But I would speak to you gp or go back and see the nurse and ask her to explain it to you.

I hope you conceive soon.

I'm Corrine btw, mum to two boys Harrison 5 and Louis James 2yrs. We live in Manchester

Hi I'm Carey, new here also.  I don't have any advice other than, go see your doctor.  Can you look up "eroding womb" on the internet?  That may give you some info.  I hope you are able to conceive soon!

Found this on Cervical erosion http://www.ivillage.co.uk/health/experts/askdoctor/qas/0,,18 0663_632922,00.html

From what I can gather it doesnt affect fertility.

I think its wrong of the nurse to make a fly away comment like that without explaining it and if i were you i'd go and see your gp and ask to discuss it.

I had a cervical erosion before successfully conceiving Joshua. I had to have a little operation to sort it out but it was simple and painless. It was described to me as having a graze on my cervix and left alone it was fine, but when it was touched it grazed a little more (I was having bleeding after intercourse). She also said because the area is naturally moist it doesnt heal itself and that was the reason for the surgery, they just lasered the top layer of skin away. I would definitly speak to your GP and ask him to explain to you what it means, and confirm the nurses diagnosis, and also if it is eroded ask about fertility, and how they plan to recify it. Good luck babe and let us know how you get on!

Im Christine, 24 and single mum to Joshua 4 years :) Good luck with ttc!

** I have just googled womb erosion and it would appear that womb erosion is a term used sometimes for cervical erosion, the two are the same. Treatment is not always necessary, unless it is causes problems like a discharge or bleeding after intercourse where it can be caurtorised (lasered/burnt) or frozen. It is caused by the thinning of one of the cervical wall linings, they write it so complex but thats my interpretation from the few sites I have just read. I hope this helps, and it does say it doesnt effect fertility. I have had 3 pregnancies since I had cervical erosion. Good luck ttc!

Thanks so much for all your replies, has made me feel a bit better. I will go and see my gp to put my mind at rest.My dp was none too happy with the way the nurse handled it, said she should have explained it to me better. Was just in a whirl when I come out and the questions always come to you after the event (they say hindsight is a wonderful thing!!)

Thanks again all of you

BTW I'm Kelly, 29  and live in Northampton with my dp Phil, hoping to concieve soon
