If you're TTC then you should take all precautions to ensure your baby is safe before you do concieve.  I've had 5 pregnancy's and until I took a test I couldn't be sure I was or wasn't pregnant.  The best way to make sure you dont harm your unborn child is to be careful in what you do before the baby is concieved.

Strawberry is right. You really ought to look after yourself i.e. take the folic acid, eat healthily, quit smoking (if you do) and cut down on booze etc if you are ttcing.

Answering your question I didn't know I was pregnant the first time until I took a test.  I was convinced that the morning sickness was due to drinking too much whiskey the night before.  Obviously, we weren't not trying for a baby he just 'happened'.

The second time was another surprise but I knew pretty early on I was pregnant.  Boobs felt heavy and tingled, morning sickness came and I'd missed a period.

I think I just knew!

I had sore boobies everytime DH hugged me lol.

Morning sickness didn't show up until 7 weeks though and I tested when I was about 3+6 days pregnant lol!

I felt very positive if that helps.

I agree with the girls. I would say if you are actively TTC then you should be living a lifestyle similar to that of a pregnant women. Saying that I drank a lot in the 1st 5 weeks of my pregnancy - as do many people - and smoked as I didnt know I was pregnant until 5 weeks (he was unplanned). Unless you are taking drugs or drinking to excess regally it is highly unlikely you will do any damage to the baby.
