My son is just under 6 weeks old and we are currently breastfeeding, coming across problems as we go but i must say its getting so much easier for us both, he feeds regularly sometimes every half an hour, sometimes he will go 3 hours..
is there any new mums breastfeeding and we can chat here if you like, share our experiences as such..

hi catherine,youve found the breastfeeding forum so your in the best place...lots of mums do or have breastfed on here and im sure you will get any advice or whatever from here,there are also a few breastfeeding articles that may interest you if you go to the homepage,one about laying down.

cheers for that hun, i tried laying down breastfeeding and fell asleep.. i couldnt live with myself as i thought i may have well.. doesnt wanna be told but it scared me so much i wont be doing it again.. i may with more practise but not just yet lol..

I never breastfed, but huge pat on the back to those that do! Sounds like you have both developed a good routine, which is important! Well dont you giving it a go and sticking with it!

Thanks mum2joshua, i wanted to breastfeed my middle son and did for a month but hospital messed us about saying he was lactose intolarant.. they didnt tell me to carry on expressing so i lost my chance to carry on, but hopefully will be able to carry on with bailey!

I bf my 2 youngest children, but only for about a month each i think if i can remember that far back lol Well Done again for keeping it up, i know many people give up when it starts to get tough, but if you've managed to get a good routine going, then stick to what you know works for the 2 of you. Keep up the good work and i hope it continues to go well. x-x-x

Glad you're continuing dspite probs. i bf Ben until Jan this year (he's 3 in Sept) and loved every second. Not that it was without probs though, blocked ducts ect ect. Are you expressing now too? It does help give you a break when lo's feeding every hour or so. It also means others can join in feeding. My dh used to give an expressed botle on an evening, gave me chance to get sorted for bed. Also helps keep your milk supply up, for when he goes longer between feeds.
Wouldn't class myself as an expert in bf, but have been there, so any probs just ask. There are some experts on here if you need them, try the Buddy system.

I breastfed my two, and came across problems along the way. I was helped by a local support group and managed to feed my wee boy until he was 11 months old and my girl for longer. I've since trained as a "community mother"; I have undergone the UNICEF baby-friendly initiative breastfeeding training given to midwives and help support local mums in the first few weeks of feeding. So, it there's anything I can help you with give me a shout! I'm currently reading loads about breastfeeding twins as I'm due a wee pair of bubbies in Dec/Jan....
(Oh, and really don't worry about lying down breastfeeding. As long as you haven't had anything alcoholic to drink, and it you don't smoke, and if there's no chance of baby falling out of bed it's a great position. I breastfed my son for 11 months. It was a wonderful experience and I loved the closeness we gained from it. I still feel like our bond is extra special even now because of it and he's 28 months now.
