Just when I thought I had my fill of feeling unwell my nipple has gone and blooming cracked.

I think it is a combination of being dehydrated so my skin is very dry and Ollie having biten me a few times.  I have some Lasinoh which is meant to be the best thing to use and am avoiding feeding on that side as much as possible and hand expressing the milk.

I can't believe how painful it is I suffered very badly when I fed Fran but had escaped so far with Ollie. NOT FARE!!!

I had the same problem and I was in shear agony! to the point I was gonna give up as both were cracked. I found nipple protectors in Mothercare and they were a godsend! could feed with no pain at all and with the milk pooling in them they healed really fast and I was back to normal.

Just a thought!

ouch-i know how that feels

rubbing breast milk in works a little bit but i found lanisoh or boots own brand of nipple cream worked wonders

either that or go bra less!! not

i read somewhere that chilled cabbage leaves are soothing for mastitis so i wonder if that covers sore nips as well

just a thought

go and have a warm soothing bath

Well it's a lot better now and I can feed from that side again as long as Ollie doesn't bite .

I purchased some Lasinoh cream at nearly £10 a tube but it was brilliant and I would reccommend it to anyone.  I went bra less too and rubbed milk in!

I think it cracked from being a bit dehydrated from being ill and also a little careless at night unlatching Ollie when he falls asleep I do tend to nod off and he slips off pulling the skin so am going to be more careful.  I had forgotten just how painful a cracked nipple could be.

Zoe lettuce leaves are good for mastitis and engorgement but shouldn't be used at other times because they do dry your milk up

I hear you there tilly I had the same problem with my eldest and it gets to the point you dread every feed.

Think you mean Kamilisan Zoe that's in a yellow tube with a flower but it contains peanut oil, I used it with my eldest and found it brilliant.
