I suspect there aren't very many of us about - unless they're just too busy to write on the forums!!! I feel quite jealous of all you portable feeders!! It's a logistical nightmare trying to get out and back again in the 3 hours between expressing sessions - or having to take a pump with you and finding somewhere private!( I defy anyone to express in public!!!)
I'm keen to share experiences and tips with other people in the same situation.

I have to say I am very bad at expressing milk.  I can't be bothered with all the palavour or sterilising, etc.  No I couldn't do it in public, I can bf no problems in public but find it hard to express in front of dp let alone out in town.

Is there a reason why you express every 3hrs? (sorry if that's a stupid question)  It must take all your time up expressing I don't envy you at all.

Need to express 6 or 7 times a day to keep up - and Hannah (generally) not waking for night feed these days. You're right - it is knackering - but at least I've got the electric pump now and can do both sides at once. One benefit is that I get over an hour a day to sit and read - wouldn't manage that otherwise!!

Hannah was taken into hospital at 3 weeks old with a huge abscess in her throat - she had not been breastfeeding properly since 1 week old (probably the abscess growing) - and was on a ventilator for a week. She had nasogastric feeds for 2 weeks and screamed whenever anything went near her mouth (even her dummy) so she completely lost the knack of breastfeeding. We did try for a few days but in 3 days she lost 9oz so I lost confidence. She had become lazy and didn't want to work for the milk - so she gets it by bottle instead!

I think you are doing great busy, most people would have given up by now and switched to an easier and less time consuming method.  I can only imagine the amount of hard work you have to put in to doing this for Hannah.  I am to lasy to even express once a day!  Well done.

I think you probably are most are either too lasy like me to express or use formula.  I had a friend that expressed after 3mnths as she was so sore she couldn't face feeding anymore but wanted her lo to have breastmilk but she combined it with formula as she couldn't keep up with the demand.  Don't be upset being the only one be chuffed that you are unique and doing the best that you can for your lo
