I've got this, but everytime I use it it leaks.  Can't see anything amiss with it.  Any ideas?

I'm afraid i used mine for a while and quickly swapped to the Medual electric one (can get it cheap off ebay). The avent one was slow and i kept losing suction. It didnt leak much but i remember it being an occasional problem, one i never fixed i'm afraid.

Where is it leaking from? Between you and the pump or within the pump itself? The connections between pump body and bottle are quite tricky I find. I only use my hand pump in emergencies though - Ameda electric for me!

Ohhh, I quite like mine! Where is it leaking? I lean forward a wee bit when I
use it coz I found that the milk can sometimes come back out at the petal
bit- otherwise I've had no probs.

It's leaking from the bottle itself and not from my boob!  It's happening where you screw the bottle to the pump.  I can't understand why it keeps leaking because as far as I can see it's fitted properly.  It's a shame because I really like using this pump.  I had an electric one in hospital, but I felt like a cow being milked!!  lol.  Personally, I'd rather have a manuel.

I had a similar problem with Avent bottles.  I found that you have to be really accurate with the way you put them together and also that if you over tightened them that made them leak more.

I am sure Lynie and the others will be more helpful than I though as they have the pumps.

As I suspected they have changed the design of the connector since I bought mine 5 years ago. It was always a fiddly three part job before but at least it didn't leak.... Sorry I can't help as mine is probably not the same as your new one.
Hope you get it sorted out.
If you express a lot then an electric is worth it. Otherwise I think the medela harmony is supposed to be good.

trouble shooting guide say's

lack of suction: Check that all the pump components have been assembled correctly and that the valve is the right way up. Ensure that the diaphragm and let-down massage cushion are fitted securly to the pump and a perfect seal is created.

I hope that helps or if still having problems the contact number is customer services 0800289064(uk)  or enquiries@avent.com

Shame about the infection, HelenC.  Thanks for your advice, girls.  I'm persevering with the pump.  I always get drenched, but I've learned to always have a towel handy when expressing.  Either that or waterproofs!
