OH NO  - NOT ANOTHER WEANING QUESTION!!!!

Sorry, but I'm a duffer and could do with some more help!!!

Ella has been on solids for 7 weeks now and is begining to drop her milk intake. But I'm struggling to get the balance between food and drink.

She's on SMA white and her day goes a bit like this...

Somewhere from 4am onwards - about 5oz.
9am ish - 4oz milk, then cereal with 2 oz milk in it.
lunch - bottle only - usually about 8oz
4ish - 3oz milk, then veg and fruit for pudding
6.30ish - supper of cereal with about 2oz milk
7.30ish - bottle - anything up to 10oz!!!

She's now begining to drop the 1st bottle of the day and only wanting a few oz before her cereal. I have to give her the milk before the food as otherwise, she won't drink it but then I'm bothered that I'm letting her get too full of milk so she doesn't eat the food!!!

AHHHH PARANOID MOTHER!!!

For her tea, she only has 2 or 3 cubes of veg and half a jar of fruit at the most. Sometimes not even that. I've tried giving her SMA gold to not fill her up so much but then she drinks even more milk and less food!!!

I just feel at a loss of what to do. I know that babies apitites change, but I just don't know how to gague her. She was on breakfast, lunch and tea but then cut down on her quantity of food and was wanting more milk overnight. So I dropped lunch and went for supper.

I had thought about staging her feeds so that she had milk in between meals - has anyone tried this or have any suggestions as to what "normal" is, if there is one?!?!?!?

(my head spinning...)

I can tell you what Ols has but not sure on the quantity of his milk as he is breastfed.

7amish breastfeed

8amish baby porridge and nectarine or 1 and 1/2 rusk with half a banana mashed in.

12pm 5 cubes of veg and 5 cubes of pudding, breastfeed.

3pm yoghurt and drink, sometimes a breastfeed

5pm 5 cubes of veg and 4 cubes of pudding

6pm breastfeed

threw the night feed probably about 3-4 times depending on how often he wakes up.  He will sometimes ask for more milk during the day and as I am such a soft touch I give it to him  Ols has been on solids for about the same length of time as Ellen.  When I was first weaning Ols I fed him between feeds but found it meant I was constantly feeding him either breast of solids all day was hard work.

then lunch n bottle-same amount of cubes but something different

couple of bottles in afternoon-try to give her at least one of water each day

So do you two give the milk after the food?

Jopsy - what milk is Lily on? and roughly how much does she have a day?

And another question to both - did your los build up gradually to that about of cubes or did they have days of not eating that quantity?

10 points for each answer...

Vickimom- that routine is v similar to my ds Roan.

He's still on sma gold- takes 6oz per feed at most-usually 5 bottles/day. Solids at 11am & 6pm with sma- not tried juice yet.His solids r still baby rice with banana, apple or carrot.

I was wondering when to up his solids - but he seems happy enough at the mo- sleeps from 8pm til 7am - so should I keep this routine til he seems to want more??

With dd my mum did all the weaning- as i was back at work.
