Hey dudes. Am lovin' the new weaning forum!!!

So then, can anyone recommend a good book/guide that they've used for weaning? A friend of mine gave me a leaflet that her HV gave her, but it says that nuts are OK so I guess its out of date!! I have told her, and she's gonna take it up with her HV.

Its things like how do you know how much milk they still need etc, and when to go on to 3 meals etc etc

I think MumSam should write a book!! My sis is a freelancer for a publishing co, so she could edit it for you and we'll publish it online!!!

I posted on another thread that as long as lo is still having at least 600ml (21oz) a day once on solids & is putting on weight u hav nothing 2 worry about. I got this info from Ryans red book so im guessing hv would say the same

I havent used any books cause i prefer 2 get my advice from real mums on here & develop it for me & Ryans needs, had no probs so far. I just feel books r written as if every lo is the same & i think we all know thats not true.

Thanks Lil P. I couldn;t find anything in Ella's red book about weaning or milk intake.... will look again.

Do you give Ryan juice or water to drink?

Ella won't drink water but I was thinking about trying her on juice...

I used annabel karmels book but i cant help on milk as i breastfeed so cant measure it, i'll see if she mentions it.

Oh just looked in Birth to Five (book from hv) and it says in first stage weaning baby still needs 600ml (1pint) of formula a day. Once on 3 meals a day you can drop one feed but still need 500-600ml per day. It says you need to carry on giving 500-600ml of formula until 12 months when it drops down to 350ml a day.

HTH

Ryan only has water in warm weather, i tried juice but he didnt like it, i think if los need extra fluids they'll take them so i wouldnt worry 2 much dizie if she doesnt seem interested in water shes probably just not thirsty.
