hi guru's

i bought an avocado the other day! i hate them, but heard they are good for bubba's. what do i do with it? how do i prepare it?

the same question goes with kiwi fruit. can i give theat, katie is nearly 6 months, not far off now. i love them but not sure if or how to incorpaorate into diet.

the last question is when making apple puree, are there any best apples to use. do i core, peel then cook till soft, and what about stopping it from going brown or being too tart? sugar is a no no so i'm flummoxed. do i use apple juice from carton?what about mango?

OH MY GOD..SO MANY QUESTIONS!!! I HAVEN'T EVEN BEGUN TO ASK ABOUT MAKING GRAVY OR A CHEESE SAUCE FOR LO!

SORRY TO BE SOOOOOO THICK! IT HAS BEEN SIX YEARS BETWEEN THE LO'S!

i will now take a deep brath and calm down and stop being shouty lady!

With advocado I just scooped it out and mashed it up either with a fork or a blender,  Ollie used to love it.  I didn't try kiwi fruit until he was much older as my brother has a strawberry allergy and kiwi are from the same family of fruit.  I am sure all you need to do is scoop it out and mash it up though.  When doing apples I used the childrens pack of economy ones as they tend to be small and sweat.  Peel and core them cut them up into segments add a tiny bit of water to cover the bottom of the pan, put a lid on and I used to cook them for 10 minutes from when they boiled.  Don't over cook them or you kill all the vitamins.  Then I used the hand blender.  No need to sweaten them.

Sam has pretty much answered all your questions there lol
But when your little one gets a bit older... i used to give mine segments of advocado as finger food as its quite soft anyway (and also works a treat when chilled if lo is teething)
And also with the kiwi fruit.. you could chop it into thick round pieces with maybe some banana's and grapes as a small fruit salad?
