OK, I'm having limited sucess in getting Ella to drink something other than milk - apple and blackcurrent juice to be precise!! I'm doing the - its this or nothing approach and its sort of working...

Now I know it says that you shouldn't give juice from a bottle - but does it really matter if they've not got teeth yet? I'm using an avent cup/spout thing at the mo and I think she's probably manage better with her normal teat... just till she gets used to it? What do people think?

I gave juice out a bottle a while back when Trav was toothless.

He has a hard time with juicecups, we have a tommee tipee one and a miriam stoppart one and theyre both pants he cant get anything out them.  I can barely get anything out them too!!!

How old is she now?

I gave Ellie juice out of a bottle a couple of weeks ago when she was ill because I wanted her to get enough fluids - I honestly can't think it would make too much difference if you did it for a short time to get her used to the taste of it and then move onto a cup?

Ellie has finally (today in fact, hurrah!) figured out that she can drink from her "Magic cup" so I'm going to use that from now on -

altho, I am now only giving her water because she'll drink that just as easily as juice...

Good luck!

lmao Laurnaugh!!  I did a thread about this a while ago about the "anyway up cup" - bag of sh*te!!!  It hurt my cheeks trying to suck the juice out, Ellie had no chance!  and then I got one that you had to bite?!  very weird...

However, the Avent magic cup is fab...

Dizie, I forgot to say, I asked the HV about giving other drinks than milk and she said not to worry too much - you only need to be worried if they are constipated - she said that they will be getting extra water thru the fruit and veg they're having...

Well done Ellie!!!

Ella is 6 and a half months and will not tollerate water AT ALL!! I've been giving her juice off a spoon - not much fun and have tried using the Avent Magic cup - but without the value to get her to drink a bit..

I might try the teat just to get her more used to the flavour, then go for the cup again..

Has anyone else tried any cups that work well?

I dont use any of the anyway up type or magic cups. Edward has a basic boots one which he loves. It is just a very simple beaker but because they dont have to suck so hard its easier!
