Hey

Sophie has been on solids for about 3 months now, to start with it was just rice or rusks, i spent half a day making up batches of fruit and veg, but she wont eat them.. she did eat the jars but not the cans, and now she wont eat the jars but only the powdered stuff you mix up with water or milk...

My question is, are the packet foods ok to use all the time?? Atm, she is on breakfast, dinner and pudding and they are all the packet ones.

I hardly used the packet food with Taylor, it was mostly jars.. so im not 100% with the packets food yet.

I wouldn't have thought there was much difference between packet and jared foods.
Its just jars and tins are more convient to take with you when going out.
If she wont eat one, but eats the other, then its better than refusing them both isnt it!!

Have you tryed mixing a liitle fresh fruit or veg in with the packet foods you make up???
If your lucky, she might not tell the differece.

Tbh, I'm not sure as Louis never had packet food, apart from rice and the odd breakfast.

I'd try what mum of 4 suggested and mix a little home made with the packet.

Or try mixing a little bit of her milk with your home made stuff so she gets used to different tastes and then gradually decrease the amount of packets and increase the homemade stuff.

good luck

Yes it's fine to do that Nicki, if her poo starts to get too solid, make sure she has extra fluids!  Have you tried adding a touch of fruit or veg puree to the powder, to give it a slight taste!  Winston is terrible he loves feeling full but fruit and veg just don't seem to do it, so I mix a spoon of baby rice in it to thicken itup, and he's doing well.  HTH  It could also be that she's getting bored with the flavour or not liking the texture!  It's always worth mixing and matching to see if you can do anything different!

Fran was the same she would only eat packet food, wouldn't eat home made or jar food.  Given the choice she will live on pot noodles and pasta still now.  Sometimes getting them to eat just anything is a struggle so stick with what she likes.  I would have thought that the same food standards go for packet or jar food.

Thanks for the replies.. it puts my mind at rest now.

I have noticed she is constipated a little bit since going on the packet food... will have to shove loads of juice down her.
