Rachel will be 2 in september...I was wondering what signs should I look out for over the next few months that she is ready to toilet train.

joshua is now 28 months and i am starting to potty train him.

he hates being in dirty or wet nappies and loves when we praise him when he does go on the potty.

Im not sure on this one. Joshua just woke up one day and refused to want a nappy and pointed to the toilet. he hasnt wore a nappy since!

I guess just look for pulling the nappy if its wet or soiled, telling you when they have had a wee or poop, wanting to sit on the toilet to copy you etc Just let the lo guide you. They are usually quite good judges of themselves!

Normally the first sign is when they let you know they have a wet or dirty nappy.  Saying that Jack is 3 soon, he will let us know when his nappy is wet or dirty but he has no interest in using the loo or the potty.

Love Trudi.  xx

Hi, I live in NZ and have 2 kids - Noah and Laura.  Noah is now 4 and didn't show any interest in toilet training until he hit 3.  He was 3 years, 2 months when he got out of nappies - but he still has a lot of trouble with keeping dry at night.  In fact we have to take him to the toilet twice a night.

Signs to look for are asking to go, interest at sitting on the toilet or potty, but more importantly being able to wee on demand.  You can always try and if there is no improvement over 2 days, then they generally aren't ready.  The key is not to stress and worry about it.  If you wait until they are truly ready then it should only take you a couple of days to master it.

Good luck

Eds is 2 in April and I think he's nearly ready. He has suddenly become aware of wet/dirty nappies and will tell us when he wants it changed. He likes to sit on the toilet on his special seat although doesnt always do anything.

I'm going to leave him til the summer and see what he's like then. I think the key is to wait for them to be ready not try and push them.

Hannah is 33 months and I have just started to potty train her. I tried a few months ago and she just wasnt ready, but now she is. She was asking for knickers and has now been in them since Friday, so far only a couple of accidents, but she stopped herself and got on the potty!!! She has also done poos on there, plenty of praise and a big smiley face on her potty chart.
