Hi its advice i am after really.

My girls are pretty much potty trained now. I have tried them with pants and they are ok for the first hour. Then they seem to forget themselves and wet them. I really want to get them out of nappies and into pants. I have praised them no end when they have had their pants on but they can't get on the potty with them on so end up taking them off. Then in the end they don't want them on at all.

I'm gonna keep trying but if anyone else has some advice i do really need some. Thanks in advance. xxxxx

Do you put them in nappies or pants?  I couldn't quite work out from your post!  Potty training is easier if they are wearing nothing over their bottom half, then when you think they are ready put pants on them.  Yes they will have accidents, I found it was easier to have a few sets of clothes in the car for them.  It's not that they forget, it could be that they are too busy doing something else to remember they are not wearing a proper nappy!

I'm trying to get them to wear proper pants. I still use nappies but as less as poss. They are potty trained. They do both on the potty and tell me when they need to go when they have no nappy on. I leave their nappy off all the time at home unless they fall asleep still not quite confident enough yet to leave it off while they sleep. They seem to forget their selfs when they have the pants on rather than when they have none on.

It will save me a fortune if i can get them out of nappies.

I just need to get them used to their pants but this stage seems the hardest so far. xxx

It is an art!  However for me at the moment getting Fred to sit on the potty is like asking a miracle!  He's been wearing trainer pants all day, as he had a temperature, and I didn't want him taking the nappy off all day!  However this evening he took off his pants and did a wee on the floor.  No matter how hard I tried he would not sit on the potty(I didn't force but did try bribery).  He won't sit on the toilet, and I'm thinking about investing in them potty chairs, as the potty seems to low for him, he hates being on it as his legs come up too far, and he has no support on the big toilet either!

Hehe goodluck with that one hun.

The girls don't mind the potty and love using the toilet too. Like you though i need to invest in a toilet seat for them.

Otherwise without me holding them they would flush away pmsl.

Well i have my fingers crossed for you.

I suppose i should just keep trying. The potty training was too easy so i suppose i must get it hard at some stage. xxxx

Why can't they just overnight be toilet trained?  It would make life so much easier, I'm dreading all the washing from proper potty training! lol  Although a bucket of water and naisan should work wonders!  And to think I'd thought all this was over when dd was wearing undies! pmsl

hiya, bronia has been trained for a while now but a few months ago we had a "relapse" where everytime i put her in her pram she weed for some reason...so....

i took her to town and we both chose some knickers that she liked with characters/flowers/butterflies etc on...when i then put her knickers on i would show her what was on them and say "now we dont want to wee wee on our butterfly do we coz itl get all wet,so you must remeber to tell me when you need to go"

and she did!!! and just remind them about the (butterfly) everynow and again ....

hth xxx

for the first week svannah didnt wear anything on her bottom half because i found that she forgot she didnt have a nappy on if she wa wearing underwear.

after a week she was fine. i did the same as lauren because svannah pooed in her knickers in the middle of next! i showed her the knickers and she chose some and shes been fine ever since, shes never weed in her knickers since then thou.

at night time i put a nappy on her and she wakes up to go to the toilet so i left her nappy off twice and both times she wet the bed its like the nappy reminds her to go to the toilet at night time although its a fight and a half to get it on her.

the girls are only young and they are even younger if you add on the time they were prem. they will get there in the end i personally think training pants are a waste of time because they will confuse the child because they are the same as a nappy and i think make the child take longer to train i never used them and svannah only took a day to stop accidents on the floor.

good luck hun

tilly xx
