WELL I'M A LITTLE FED UP AT THE MOMENT re the potty training department. I appreciate my DD is now 34 months and still in nappies but I thought potty training would not be pressured on my DD and I. I get no support from my DP at the moment who is a little depressed with life especially after his last interview rejection mouching around the house. He would much rather leave her in nappies for ever at the moment!!!

Then to top of it off my HV said when I took my DD to be weighed don't leave it too long before you try again to train her. So much for the don't put them in nappies one day then knickers and back again in nappies advice!

I've got potty training sticker chart, step stool, potty, toilet training seat, potty training pants, about 14 pairs of knickers and my DD who bless her is relatively good at getting wees in the potty or toilet but not poos. This to my DP frustration.

Problem is like many litte one's she just treats them as nappies. Have had some advice from family support worker to put her in knickers and just ask/try toilet every 30 minutes.

awwww sorry your feeling rubbish about it at the mo,it is not easy whatever age theyre at,its not nice that you now feel pressure form your hv to deal with it,sounds like your doing the right thing with the sticker chart thing,it works well for them.

i agree you should keep on asking/trying her on the loo or potty every 30mins or so....all you can do is give her lots of praise,singing dancing the works...lol

its hard and frustrating for lo's to be potty trained,theyre in a nappy from day one and then suddenly expected to do it in a potty....just stick with it and try not to worry... xxx

Well little ones have their own way of adding cheer, just before bathtime she asked for wee, then did a wee then a poo on the toilet. I was so happy and I know it was probably lucky timing but I think she knew how happy I was as we added two stickers to the chart.

Tomorrow's another day.

yay well done to her.

I do think consistancy is the key to potty training. At 34 months she is still young, and unless she is starting nursery this September then there should be no pressure on you to do it. She needs to do it her own time. Sometimes its best to shut out the advice from proffessionals and listen to your own instinct as a parent!

If you do try her in knickers, i would continue that way. Going back to nappies will not onlu confuse her, but also may make her feel like a failure or that its ok to wee or poo because she can just go back in nappies. Also consistancy, not knickers when its convieniant.

Good luck when you start it, and Im sure she'll just one day do it (sounds like she might already want to!!)

if your a sahm and happy with nappies then carry on

as long as shes potty/toilet trained before school then i cant personally see a problem

must say tho no nappies is saving us a fortune

as i got told once....no child starts primary school in nappies....so dont stress about it chick..itll happen, and the more relaxed you are about doing it, the easier it will be.

Isla is dry through the day, wearing her knickers and is happy going to the loo etc.  Kind of 'lost' her potty when we moved house in january ahem.  Night times shes still in a nappy..even if she does take it off sometime during the night.  Im in no rush to change the night time thing..shell do it in her own sweet time.

But yay well done her for using the loo at bathtime

Well, we carried on yesterday. 3 almost there mishaps plus poo in a pull-on but at least she seem to have got the idea and perfers to wee in the potty or toilet. Not bad considering we went to Rhyl as Grandad (my dad) phoned out of the blue and asked my DD if she wanted to go to the seaside. Slightly awkward timing but it even cheered up my DP to go away for a day. Was not too bad as she slept most of the journey there so had a nappy on, then we found the toilets as soon as we got there. Then she ate and put a nappy on for the journey back but she even asked & managed to go to the toilet at the restuarant stop on the journey back and it was still dry then.

Went off again to Grandma & Grandads today in a pull-on so I'll find out when she gets back shortly. Quiet week ahead so as long as she's happy to carry on we will.
