We've had an oprdinary potty from when the giorls were 1, just to get them used to it. They have never sat on it without their nappy, without a big fuss (they've always said they are scared of it)

Last week my friend lent me her potty and raved about how great it was. Its called a royal potty and makes a noise when they do something in it. Anyway, when I bought it home, Ashleigh wanted her nappy off straight away and after sitting on it for about 15 minutes did a wee in it. We were so proud of her and promised her a treat, made a big fuss of her etc. She then did it again the next day (she said she did it so she could have a chocolate cake!)

So the following day we went and chose some pretty pants together and she was keen to wear them and kept telling us how she was a big girl now. Well, we got through 4 pairs in less than an hour and I was asking her every 5 minutes if she needed to use the potty and she kept saying no. We gave up in the end and by this time, she was fed up of it to and was quite happy to have her nappy back on.

She now will sit on it but pretends she's done something when she hasn't and refuses to wear her pants and says she doesn't want to be a big girl.

Any ideas? They will be 3 in September. Lauren has no interest in using the potty at all

x

Perhaps there just not ready yet - I'm a strong believer if there ready they will do it, Molly just turned 3 and has been out of Nappy's since just after Xmas and we had loads of accidents to begin with but after the first week she was great and very rarely wet herself, i made a chart for her with suns for dry and rain for wet if she had more suns she would get a treat she loved that but we soon got rid as it was costing me a bomb in prezzies lol, its nothing your doing wrong Hun your doing the main thing by keep asking etc, i just think if your gonna do it stick to it no matter how many accidents but if you go back to Nappy's just try again in a few weeks good luck it will come xx jue xx

I agree- nothing's wrong other than they're not ready yet.

btw- I had the royal potty for my boy when he was small- he used to sit on it and wave his hand in front of the sensor and make it play the tune without weeing!  Eventually after he had turned 3 he went to the big toilet without training on a potty.

try not to worry!

My advice.

Put it away, leave it a few weeks (preferably until summer when running around naked is easy) and just forget about it.

They don't sound ready and while its frustrating, particularly when they tell you they are wet after the event, just leave it. It simply is not worth getting upset over.

Come summer time let them run around with nothing on at home. Feeling it trickle down their legs may make them more aware. It worked with both of mine. Only thing is its best to play at staying home for a fortnight until they've completely cracked it. I also recommend NOT using those pull up pants. I think they confuse the issue if the child doesn't actually feel wet after they've weed. Just my opinion naturally.

As a Mum who has had 2 "late" starters (Sophie and Adam were just over 3), I wouldn't stress about it. Maybe she just isn't quite there yet but it will come don't worry, xx.

I agree with everyone else..they're still only young and I'd wait until they start showing an interest themselves - I thought Ellie was ready when we trained her but we had a lot of problems with number 2s and I will not be doing the same with Hannah!

I would wait until they start telling you they want to go (for both wees and poos) and after they've got the hang of doing wees/poos on the potty for a few days, even weeks, then go for it with no nappies but honestly, trying it before they are ready can delay them, I think that's where we went wrong with Ellie!

Maybe  Lauren will get interested once Ashleigh susses it...altho my friend who has twins told me that her dd trained herself just before she was 2 and her ds has never used the potty once and they're almost 3...
