Arrgghhhhh!! got that out of the way!

Lewis is going backwards with his potty training.  Hes started wetting and messing himself and constantly asks for a pull-up on.  He screams when I put him on the toilet and wont sit on his potty.  So far, I have resisted going back to pull-ups, but my washing is mounting up!!

Any advice please?  I would be most grateful xxxx

Awww hunny as he was doing so well before i have a gutt feeling he's just rebelling against the new rules and methods of disapline as it's an area where he has control.

I take it you've said if you don't you can't go big school etc.

I'd say persit if possible,  but with health complications hunny i'd say put him in pull ups if it's easier.... let him get used to the new techniques then start again... possibly contact the lady who visits for advice.

Huge hugs hunny xxx

Oh Nikki I really do sympathise with you. Harry hasn't even gone forwards let alone backwards. Basically we have got no where and he starts nursery next week. They said he can go in pull ups but I never wanted to send him to nursery still in nappies, makes me feel a failure.

He sounds a bit like Lewis, but remember you know Lewis can do it so I think he is just testing you along with the changes in discipline. Harry just refuses to sit on a potty, toilet etc and likes being in a wet or dirty nappy. I know it will come when he is ready but i wish it was now. I know I am not much help and wish i could suggest something. As Zany says why not mention it to your support team.

  Best of Luck xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Try to resist the temptation to put him back in pull ups as he's getting his own way and he'll think he will be able to wear them forever.

Have you got any pt books? These were a god send to me especially with Harrison.  He was lazy, hated the fact he had to move to actually go to the toilet it was all to much of an effort and out of laziness he'd wet himself.  So I left him.  I told him if he wanted to wet himself then so be it.  He soon hated being wet and actually got up and got clean pants and went to the toilet.

Persistence is key.  Put some fun things in your loo.  Pictures of his fave things, if you can print them out.  I've got a poster of horrid henry in my toilet with dont forget to wash you hand's i did it myself and laminated it and the boys love it.  I also have a dinosaur with dont forget to flush, it just gives them something to look at. I'll say things like 'come on lets go and see what Horrid henry is up too, we can try for a wee too'.  They pictures dont have to stay forever just until he's cracked it.

Try not to stress too much about it just tell him now he's 3 he's a big boy and the babies need the pull ups so he cant have them.

Gosh i sound really cruel but i tried them all on Harrison and he soon sorted it.  I was glad i fell lucky with Louis.

Good luck

I would recommend you have a chat to your peadiatrician or your autism nurse, it is quite normal for our special kids to do that.  It may just be a case of putting him back in pull ups for now, and see if you can get a free supply, he is old enough and you do qualify. hth xxx

totally understand where your coming from. i posted a while s go with lotte crying everytime i asked her to go on the potty and was wetting all the time even though she was totally trained. afraid im still fighting it. she still wets coz she is too lazy but found that by being sickly nice to her and not getting angery bout wet pants she will now sit and go to the potty if asked. I think i made her scared of it by always shouting and making a big deal out of it, she was scared i would see her wet knickers. now she sits on the floor growning trying to hold it in till i ask her to sit on potty.

i too am trying the 'can't start pre-school if your still wetting', she seems to understand but not sure its going to work.

Its annoying when you know they can do it and i think that is what you need to remember. he just testing  you and prob pre occupied. i would try leaving him in wet pants, i know someone else who did that and it worked. i haven't done it only coz lottes wee is so potent it stinks really badly ha ha.

has he started drinking more?

lotte drinks way more than her friends which i think is another cause.

good luck if you find a soluton please please let me know too x x
