Hi for all of you that don't know me i have identical twin girls aged 13 months... They are not yet walking but looks like they might start at any time...

I was just wondering at what age everyoen started potty training????

I was gonna introduce them to the potty when they start walking so they know what it is. Then when they are ready to start them. But when do you know when they are ready????

Any advice is appreciated....

pmsl that's the million dollar question!

experts suggest waiting until lo is at least 18 months old before starting potty training as their bladder and bowel control is too weak.

we've only just started potty training max now and hes two. we bought our first potty when he was about 17 months old and left it around for him to get used to it. we've never pushed him, instead we waited for max to lead us.

i think you're best waiting for signs such as discomfort with being in a dirty nappy or the girls' telling you they want to 'go'.

max hates being in a dirty nappy and tells me.  he also tends to grab his crotch which is a sure sign he's about to go or has gone already.

sorry i'm not much help but we're new to this ourselves.

I think you definately take the lead from the kids. Sophie is now 3 and 1/2 and she is just dry through the day now. Would highly recommend a sticker chart when you do start. How is potty training going M2M?

I first bought a potty for harrison when he was 2yo buut he was gone 3  before he mastered the art of potty training, though he never used the potty i think he was quite scared of sitting on it as they are quite small so he used the toilet from day one.

He 4 at the end of next month and is now completley dry day and night, i never pushed him once to be toilet trained, i let him lead me all the way and i think thats the key to getting it right dont rush them, the hv's alway say be sure that they are ready orelse you fight a losing battle and sometimes the later you leave it the easier it is

Every child is different so there is no real right or wrong age to start, as the others have said they will let you know

Good Luck

Zoe the pull ups chisi talks about are Huggies pull ups lol

They have little pics in the front which fade when it gets wet. I think pampers have just brought a version of this out too, although i prefer pamper nappies i did not like these pull ups.

Emma like everyone has said i think it is just best to let the girls tell you when they are ready. if they are showing little signs there is no harm having a potty around but I wouldnt push t till they are ready as it can cause los to regress later in life (2-3-4yrs etc) and have accidents etc

good luck to all the madbabies who are training xxxx
