I have bought a potty to leave around so Edward can get used to it. My mum suggested it as it is very obvious when he has a poo (sorry tmi) and she said if I had a potty handy I could put him on it so he worked out what it was for.

I really dont want to rush this as I have always been a firm believer in letting the child lead you. So far I have just had it in his room. I sat him on it after I took his nappy off which he thought was quite funny. Do you think this will be ok? I dont want him to regress later.

i think as long as u keep it fun at this age

As said in another post los dont hav any control b4 18 months so theres no point in pushing it at this age

I plan 2 get Ryan a potty in time for summer & do the same as u but if he seems distressed at any point i'll remove it for a while

Do you know considering I have already had 3 others, I hadn't even given this stage a thought!  Now that you have brought it up though Madz, I will get a potty in  after I have the lo, so that we have one for when he is ready!  Although none of boys were trained until they were almost 3, Fred seems to be doing everything alot quicker than they did!  Excellent idea about leaving it for him to see now though!

I have had a potty for a while for Ols as like Ed it is very obvious when he needs a pooh.  I just leave it around so he is used to seeing it and it doesn't worry him later on when we want him to use it.

i don't see what is wrong with having a potty around for them.  we have two potties, one upstairs n one down for max. however, it is very rare uses them, preferring the toilet instead.  i can't see tom being able to reach the toilet yet, even with the step-lololol. it won't do him any harm getting use to the potty though.

lily has had a potty around for a while-she did do a freak wee in it the other week!

she sits on it and wears it on her head!

she hates being damp and tells us or takes her trousers off ready!

Bless him - I've been sitting him on the potty after nappy changes occassionally and making a pssst sound while he's on it so he knows to wee. Well he hasnt had a wee yet but he has started making the pssst sound while sat on it now. Its so cute.

He also had a tiny dribble when he got off the potty today so maybe thats a good sign, I dont know.

As I've said I wont push him but I'm pleased he is happy being around it.

I have done this both times with the girls. Bex liked wearing hers on her head !! Adam plays about with Sophie's old one as she now uses the loo. He sits on it, laughs and gets off again.
