Well i have put Jack in undies (His favorite Thomas the tank) today to see how we go.  We have had 2 wee's in our pants so far.  If he has accidents all through the first few days do you think he's not ready?  The potty is in the lounge so he can see it and can use it any time but he freaks out a little if you mention it.  After each accident i have sat him on it but he hasnt done anything and he didnt enjoy sitting on it.

He looks quite hapy and if he does a wee or poo in his nappy he will come and tell us by holding the front of his nappy and saying 'Ak' so he knows when he is wet, dirty and un-comfortable.

I think a few people may have different views on this.

In my opinion I think if he is having accidents all day long, leave him and try him again in a couple of weeks. Harrison didn't like the potty full stop.  He wouldn't go no where near it.  So we had to use the toilet from day one.  Was hard work keep going up and down the stairs umpteen times a day but we got there..in the end

I would say if he tells you that he's done them, the next stage is to wait til he tells you either during or before he's done them before putting him on a potty!  But each to his/her own.  Keep at it for a couple of days, and if he's still not happy, go back to the nappy, but make sure the nappy you use is a really cheap one that makes him uncomfortable, and with any luck it shouldn't be long before he's back to using the potty!  I never put any undies on my 3 when I was training them, that way they knew not to do anything!  Either way it's a trial and error thing, and no child is the same!  Good luck hope he works it out!

Good luck. I think there are so many schools of thought on this that its best to go with your instincts. I have a potty and a toilet seat for Eds and he knows what they are for but certainly isnt ready to use them yet.

My friend is in the middle of potty training her (very inteligent) 2 year old who announced one monday morning 'No more nappies mummy'! Nicola was devestated as after going through it once with her eldest was planning on waiting til the summer. She asks her regaully if she needs a weewee and takes her off for a story on the potty then they wave byebye to weewee as it is flushed away.

Good luck and I hope it goes ok.

Ds has the same pants as he loves Thomas too , ds goes most days being dry only the occassional accident now but as for number 2's that is a different story, he waits until night time when we put a nappy on for bed and then goes.
Dd on the other hand, would rather put her hand in the potty
