For those of you that have more than 1 child and have had post natal depression, did you get it with subsequent children?

I know that Sam had it with the girls, but then not Ols, which is very encouraging! Just wondered about anyone else.

Deep down, I do want another - but not just yet. One of the biggest fears I have is that I'll get PND again. I know that the 2nd time I'll know the signs etc etc but I just wondered from experience on here, have you had it with a 2nd, 3rd etc child?

ah well i can't comment on pnd, but i did have a case of ante-natal depression (self-diagnosis) with max.  when i fell pregnant the second time i worried constantly about it returning, but do you know what it didn't.  i still had the same anxieties, but for one having a baby to run after meant i didn't have the time to dwell and secondly, i felt more in 'control' as i knew what to expect.

i know this isn't really answering your question re: pnd but ante-natel depression is still a depression in itself.

hope you find some answers soon.  zo xxx

Zoe - I agree. I think I had antenatal depression too. Its a very real illness and like you, I have the same fears with that as I do with PND.

Its strange but antenatal depression is talked about even less than post natal depression. I have only ever found 1 book that mentions AND.

Depression can come back at a ny time, however, I had pnd with my first and as you know no5 is due soon, and I'm hoping not to get it this time round.  I have been very lucky so far and hope I'm lucky again!
