I am so fuming just about now!

Joshua is booked in for a tonsilectomy, and at the time of the consultation I was informed it was a very short waiting list and did I have any holidays planned. When I said no, Id prefer summer holidays if it is short she said ok, ring up in a couple of days and confirm that. So about a week later I rang up and confirmed that I wanted a summer holidays appointment to save him missing school, she said she would make a note on his notes. Then end of July I rang up again to see if he was going to be seen during the holidays. She said someone had written on his notes, 'no appointment to be made for summer holidays'. I said no way I wanted it in the summer holidays. She said she was doing Augusts lists and she would try have him in for this month.

I rang up today and was told his operation date is 3rd September. I was a bit annoyed that it wasnt summer holidays but I suppose everyone wants it. Then the woman said he got priority for the first date after the school holidays. I asked what she meant, and he could have had his operation next week but the notes still said 'no appointment to be made in summer holidays' so he was given the first available date outside of that. Really really really annoyed now. I explained that I wanted in the summer holidays and she said its to late to change it now a child further down the list has got his date for next week!!!

Joshua starts his first term of 'big boy' school on 4th Sepember, and with his operation he is going to miss up to 2 weeks! Im really not happy.. I would understand being misinterpreted once, but 3 times??? Apparently the notes were meant to say no holidays (ie none booked) but they dont! She is going to check into things and ring me back, but really dont think it will change anything!

That is awful! I hope they manage to fit him in earlier - It would be such a shame for him to miss his first 2 weeks at big school.

Bleeding NHS!
