Good Morning All.

For the last 3 weeks I've been treating a scaly horrible lesion thing under my left breast with some anti-fungal cream the pharmacist recommended. We decided I'd got ringworm so that was best thing to do....

Over the last 10 days or so I've been getting more and more of these oval red itchy things all over my body. Its on my back, my tummy and my upper arms, I got to the point where I was losing count of which ones I'd put cream on and which I hadn't!

This week its got loads worse, the patches are innumerable and the cream is not helping at all. The original patch is now about 4cm across and looks really red and angry.

So I made an appointment at the GP's and saw her a little while ago.

Its NOT ringworm, which is a relief cos otherwise why hasn't it gone.

It's something called pityriasis rosea.

Yeah I'd never heard of it too. Apparently caused by some virus, there is absolutely nothing I can do about it apart from apply lots of aqueous cream and wait for it to go away on its own.

Guess I won't need a costume for halloween tonight

Am looking on the bright side though. Dh still thinks I'm gorgeous (bless him) and now he has the job of smothering my body in cream every night for the next few weeks, it can take upto 3 months to resolve.

The itching is bearable unless I'm hot so I'm rather pleased with the outcome, I've not let him touch me incase it was contagious and now he can!

Rather enjoying the thought of being pampered, my rash is now my new best friend! I've even got a couple on my breasts so tonight could be interesting.

Anyone else ever had this at all? Apparently only affects between 10 and 35 year olds so I'm just in the right age group.

I had this when I was about 14 years old.  My gp hadn't seen it before and then proceeded to call every dr into the room so they could see it too.  Mine was mostly on my trunk and back.  I don't think I had any treatment for it and it took about a fortnight to go if I remember correctly.  My Mum was facinated by it at the time and I was just very embarresed at 14 to have it.

That sounds exactly what I had earlier this year! I started with one wee patch, then it ended up appearing all over the place - from my neck down to my calves. Got a couple of different creams from the dr but it took a few months to clear up - and a couple of patches have left a darkened area of skin. I never actually got a name for it though!

Glad you've found out what it is - enjoy getting your cream put on!

xxx

I had that also when I was a teenager.  Just went as quickly as it came!

Thanks all

Its reassuring to hear I'm not the only pink and white leopard in the world.

In response to not getting diagnosed, it did actually take 2 seperate drs at the surgery. I've never had my top on and off so many times!

Itching is getting worse, must use more cream
