I was at the hospital at stupid o'clock this morning, so they started early. Ive had to withdraw from all medication for 6 weeks (actually been 11 weeks), and fast for 12 hours to have the tests done. They did a series of blood tests as soon as I arrived on the ward. They then injected me with something to stimulate my pituarity gland (I think Im sure she said that) which releases the hormones. They are looking at the levels of testoserone and progesterone (funnily dont think she mentioned oestrogen but Im sure that'll be in there) they are also testing my thyroid and insulin (hence I had to fast, they were testing my fasting insulin and checking to see if I have insulin resistance). An hour after the injection they repeated all the blood tests (I had 11 bottles taken in total oww!) They were going to repeat the blood an hour later again, but the consultant came up and said one hour should be long enough to check what he needs to check.

Ive also been asked to be a lab rat for a few weeks. They said I could go back on the dianete, but instead of going back on the metformin they want me to join a research prgramme. It consists of a low carbohydrate diet and high intensity aerobic interval training. Of course its completely my decision, so they have sent me away with the material to read and decide in my own time. Personally so long as it works round my work and Joshua routine Im quite open to it. I would give a limb to loose weight (would work too lolol) but seriously I am willing to try anything now.

I should have the blood results back in 3-4 weeks. They didn't have any of the results from the other week, so I will have to phone up about them.

All Joshua said was, oh thats a funny red colour maybe you need to take more. You can put one of those butterflies in mummies other arm if you want more blood! (he was calling the canula thing a butterfly, thats what they called it when he had his tonsils out) Then when they were pulling the elastic thing round my arm the second time for more blood he asked what would happen if they pulled it really hard. The nurse said my arm would feel horrible and go a funny colour, so he said go on then let me see!

Ach I have the most unsympathetic child of all time pmsl Gave the nurse and doctor a good giggle though they thought he was brilliant!
