Well, today has arrived, I have my appointment at the smoking cessation clinic at 10.20 this morning.  I'm a very heavy smoker and I've known for a long time it was time to quit to make a better life for me and for the kids but I havn't been ready in my mind and I wouldn't have had any will power.  Now I have, now I am ready to give up.  I've got through a terrible year, giving birth without my partner, my other kids dad just vanishing from the face of the earth before christmas, social services and all the other problems assocoated with being a single mum of 5.

Billy is 1 on Sunday and what better gift could I give than a smoke free environment for him and the other kids.  The money I will save on cigarettes will run into the thousands in just one year.  Now is my time and I'm determind to better my health and my kids health and become smoke free.

Wish me luck, let me rant and rave and if you can support me through the next few weeks so I can succeed, it wont be easy, the stress of all 5 at home over the next 6 weeks is daunting but by the time they go back I'm going to be a non smoker!

Good luck today Jen, we are soo  soo proud of you and we are rooting for you to get through this.  We will be here for you every step of the way so rant away, if it helps you then go for it. 

Speaking from experience, giving up smoking is bloomin hard and its even harder to stay on the wagon once the stresses and strains of life get you.  But hopefully you will stick to it hunny xxxxxx

Good luck hun it's a hard road to go down and it's going to be tough but keep trying and do you best and i'm sure you'll break the addiction, you seem to have all the right reasons for stopping and they are very close to your heart.... who knows having them around and being a constant reminder of what you have to loose might be a help......

Thanks ladies, well I've been but am a little disappointed.  I wanted to go one one of the two tablet things they have but because of my history of depression they wont let me.  I've come away with patches and a nasal spray to try.  It's not what I wanted but its something and even though it's not the way I wanted to do it I'm still going to try.

I've got to go back in two weeks to see how I'm doing and again 2 weeks after that to have my carbon menoxide levels checked.  I've set my date to stop smoking as Saturday, it gives me a couple of days to get used to the idea of having to go down a different road than I was planning and I really dont want to fail this time.

Whilst there I had my blood pressure taken and it wasn't good.  I've never suffered with any blood pressure problems but at the moment it's very low.  It was 66/44 so that will explain the terrible dizzy spells I've had lately.  I have to go back next Tuesday to have it checked again.

It's a shame that you can't go the way you wanted but hopefully you'll have as much luck with this the tablet route.

As for your blood pressure that is low take it easy and hopefully it'll sort it's self out.... make sure you keep your fluids up.

Well done chick...the nasal spray is strong stuff...and will make your eyes water..lol.  Sounds like your advisor is on the ball...and dont forget they are only a phone call away.  If you want telephone support ASK for it..if you want a daily text from your advisor ASK for it...oh and the monitoring form that you filled in...thats my baby.  All your info...as in your result at 4 weeks...will be winging its way to the department of health...next month..to be included in the figures for the nation how cool is that.  I know this..cos thats what I do lol!

Just tried the spray so I know what to expect on Saturday and hehe, it was crazy.  My eyes started to stream, I sneezed about 30 times and my nose burnt a little but after a minute it all wore off but I dont want a fag now lol.  I actually cant wait to give up now but i'm not going to move the day forward...Saturday it is, thats what I planned and I'm more determind now than I have ever been to be a non smoker.
